what to do for more power in my radio

Again,without working knowledge of the RFX or use of said mod to a low buck chassis
radio puts one where ? Swings kits and RFX were made for each other,properly installed
they do far above what one would expect.Sorry there isnt a "GOOGLE" reference or YOUTUBE vid
to expand your "forum" knowledge.
The net return is well worth the small investment to talk over,under and thru radios costing $350 and up.

Pretty trick #### if you ask me and I have many thousands of dollars worth of radio history
so its not like I just bought a 949 with my LOVES Fuel Points . . . . .

 

So if I call my amp a foot warmer or a kicker it will not work

yes i understand what you are saying and am not trying to argue or be a butt either....all i was telling the guy if
he is going to order 1 of these Linear's....why not tell him what the thing says on the front cover and what apparently
Texas Star calls them even though that's not what they actually are.... so he does'nt spend half the day
on the phone trying to explain what he is trying to order?......

 

You can add all the power you want with Linears and thats exactly what you will get a loud radio. What counts is RMS power and your dead key along with a good attenna. after having radios for 27 years a great radio like the connex 3300hp with a flat dead key of 2 watts and on hi power at 5 watts and huge rms power to 120 RMS out of the box 10 - 20 miles wont even be an issue.

 

Ok I am lost what is RMS Power. I know they use that term in Stereo equipment but never heard it used in dealing with RF output. Usually we deal with either Peak or Average out put power. Most Good watt meters like the Bird use average and are really hard to show a swing of any kind on most CB radios. Now the Peak reading Bird 43P will show some swing but very little not like the Ones they use in most radio shops like the Dosey i see most of them use.

As this article says - "The RMS value of power is not the equivalent heating power and, in fact, it doesn’t represent any useful physical quantity."

When discussing power it should be average power or heating power.
