When and how long were you at Lisa? You know for a fast ride the image is worth as much as the wages.:biggrin_2559:

I was there for 4.5 years,I left a year before they fired Richard
Which was about 6-7 months after FFE took over.
I drove a blue/white striped 87 Flat Top Pete that ate Monfort racks for snacks.
I sold the truck and it sat behind the old yard office on 28th street in FTW for 2-3 yrs till someone moved it . . . . ?

Ok...I gotta say this...we have driven FAST trks our whole career. we are ex chicken/produce haulers from the old days.....until Feb of this year...we went to IDC..go ahead, laugh...anyway, (yes I posted they kept pet deposit when we left) anyway, we decided in Aug to GO CHASE that FASt trk again...(picture of trk on profile) guys promised close to the same money we were making etc...truck was decked out, leather seats etc...and truthfully dont know how fast it would go...lol....anyway..we almost starved to death and went thru all of our savings from IDC..well we came back to IDC 2 wks ago...we make $.050 a mile here..A TRUE $0.50 a mile...and run 5000+ miles a wk. They always pay on time and what we are owed. As for a slow truck, yeah we hate it, not to mention its a freighliner..we have always had a "hood", but we never jump out in front of someone coming on strong...and if we catch up to someone and start passing them and they speed up, we dont stay in the left lane drag racing them, we back out of it and get back behnd them, ....Its not our idea that the truck only goes 62 mph...but I dont know of anyone with a fast truck (other than o/o) that pays $0.50 a mile for a company driver. So dont be mad at all of us...its not my fault its slowwww but at the end of the year lets compare paychecks and see how much ya make with your fast truck...lol ..if you have a fast truck and are making money THATS GREAT!!!! but as for us, we just havent found both...

How fast is fast? When I hauled Hazardous Waste (including Flammable Liquids) from CA clear to PA and GA, the brand-new tractors were uncut and went 90 m.p.h., go figure---you'd think those would be governed the hardest, with placards on the wagons. Of course, half the loads were Class 9 lead solder waste, which isn't anywhere near as hazardous as Class 3, but the principle is the same. The only reason my assigned truck didn't do triple digits was because it ran out of gears... you could literally feel it run out at the top end. Had a straight 10 in there, and I always wondered how much faster it would have been with a 13-speed... even if that meant tweaking the rear ends. I must say, that Cat 470 I had in there offered a good compromise between power and fuel economy... pulled a grade as well as any 500, and never let me down in any way.:biggrin_25525:

Same basic theory applies with my trucks and drivers
My trucks FLC's (630L Detroit w/15's and 3:58's) all run out to 2250(85/90 is about 1900
My drivers know their money and roll them at 68mph all day long.(6.1-6.3mpg)
Their pay, like yours is passed on in "MPG",they get the pay for performance
which is every bit of $.50 per mile.

Zero turnover with 5 drivers in nine years. :biggrin_25514:
    Spanking Peterbuilts is their BONUS!

The United State of Texas... BWAHAHAHAHA!!! I have heaps of relatives in TX, so I can laugh freely and say, "Drive on, soldier!!!" Not many Americans realize that Texas actually declared itself an independent republic back in the day... something I respect and admire as a former Infantry soldier. Who knows? If things don't get better soon, perhaps more states will follow the historic lead of the Lone Star State and break away from the Union, as the South attempted to do and nearly succeeded in doing during the Civil War, long after Texas made its historic declaration. Okay, that's it, just had to weigh in on that classic line: The United State of Texas. :biggrin_25525:
