Well im down to 16 working days left in the Marines then its off to start driving school. Its starting to hit me now how important it is for me to do well and get my CDL. If i mess up and dont pass i dont have a job, i think ill do fine but the more i think about it the more i stress. I already got my job lined up as long as i get my CDL. Im trying to do as much research and learn as much about the civ. trucking industry as i can so i can be as knowledgable going into this as i can. any tips or info that yall think might be useful before i head off to the school is greatly appreciated.

I feel your pain...I have not even started driving school and I'm nervous, not only about passing but whether I'll be satisfied with a career in OTR driving....Guess theres only one whay to find out, I've been considering it for years.

If you can become a Marine and not wash out you should have no problem with a trucking school. By the way, Thanks for serving!:mcool:

Your welcome! After awhile it will seem like an every day thing. You will look back and wonder why it ever worried you. Coming out of the service is probably what has you worried. You get used to being in the system and the thought of having so many choices can be a little overwhelming at first. When I first got out of the Army I was so used to doing everything in groups, chow, work, PT, etc. Then you find you are on your own and it takes a little getting used to.

I believe you are right Notarps, and i have thought of that. The big thing that has me worried is the house, truck and boat payments and my wife is in college right now, shes working as a vet tech but not making to much money, and if i buger anything up our good credit and everything we've worked so hard for is down the drain. thanks for the helpful words i guess thats what i was kinda looking for. andy

You might be able to use The Montgomery GI Bill to help. You sound like you are just a little stressed and that is normal. Most have to adjust to trucking. In your case you are re-adjusting to the civilain sector and adapting to the trucking industry, but think back to your training in the Marines. Adapt, overcome, and what?
