As many of you know i work for JB and the truck involved in the accident was a JB truck. New info came across the qualcomm yesterday on the incident. It was quite interesting and thought i would share it with you people. I was wondering how they were gonna blame the driver or how the driver was gonna get screwed. I was very surprised. They were more interested in screwing the truck driver than worrying about who's fault it was and why it happened. Well here it is verbatim from the qualcomm :
In the early morning hours of may 3rd , a lease purchase driver left a rest area along I-76 near elverson , pa. After leaving the rest area willie accelerated to aprox. 34.5 mph when our trailer was hit from behind by a bus. The collision occured approx. 767 feet down the road from the rest area. Currently, we do not know why the bus driver did not see our truck or react appropriately. Our driver states that he had his flashers on for an extra measure of safety. The charter bus was carrying about 30 high school students and several adults to a drum competition. While it appears the JB driver was operating safely and his actions did not contribute to the to the accident, he was cited for falsification of his logs. The investigating officer determined that the miles from the location where the load was picked up and the accident location could not have been reasonably covered in the time the driver recorded driving on his logs. There was no need to falsify his logs. The driver had 39 hrs from the time he was loaded until his delivery appointment and 693 miles to cover. He had more than enough time for 2 ten hr breaks, driving time at a legal speed and time for other non-drivingactivities that may have been necessary. Because of a poor decsion to falsify his logs this driver and Jb Hunt will likely be involved in numerous despositions and court proceedings over the next several years. I want to stress to each of you that we need you to log accurately and operate legally. Ensure your logs are up to date each time you get behind the wheel, use your watch to determine how long you spend in each duty status and use your odometer to record miles driven for the day. Please log it as you do it.

I wonder what the bus driver's log book looked like, or if he was keeping one. <br>
-
i don't think bus drivers have to do a log book but i am not sure on that since i have never driven a bus.........
-
I would say hes in serious trouble now. There gonna say he should'nt have been there at all, so he's automaticly at fault.
-
yeah i think this will get worse before it gets better........... -
wow, now that driver is paddling up ####'s creek
Hope it all works out for the best -
This is exactly the thing I have been stressing,if anything happens and your driving after hours or false log you are in big trouble along with your company. Its not worth it. I also have been told by dot and drivers that jb logs faster than their trucks can go,they can't average what they log, those trucks are turned down too slow to log near the speed limits except ohio and in,55 and 60.
