Out of Moore, OK. Anybody know anything?

They are the transportation company for Vaughan Foods. I'm going to work there, hopefully, next week. I've really been holding out for local work, but with this job I could be out 3-5 days at a time. I've decided to go ahead and take it so I can get back to work. I've been off for about a month now.

They do have an "alert" on their log violations, but I was told, during the interview, of steps being taken to correct that.

Other than that, I like what I see so far. It is no forced dispatch but if you don't call in after 3 days you're fired. It sounds like you can work as much as you want, and make as much as $1200+ a week, I was told, or you can take it easy and make as little as you want.

It is slip-seating, which I'm not crazy about, but they have all 09' and newer trucks, and drivers are fined $50 if they don't clean it up at the end of their shift.

And most routes are overnight, out and back.

For those that may be interested, Oklahoma City is the only area they hire out of.

My uncle currently works for them so this is just what I've heard from him.
My guess is that they are your average company in that it depends on your attitude. They pay on the low end somewhere around 30-32 with experience.
According to FMCSA they only have 30 trucks. All trucks are leased through Penske and according to my uncle the few automatics they have left are soon to be removed from the fleet.
Like any company it has it's share of issues. I think clearing 800 or so a week and being home on weekends would probably be the norm. The 1200 is probably unlikely unless you are out running with little home time.

    CommDriver Thanks this.

Yes, the pay per mile is on the low end. Of course, that is a sacrifice I am willing to make to be home on the weekends or a couple of times a week.

If you're okay with the lower pay in order to be home more often I'd say go for it. Trip home (if you're actually in OKC) isn't very far once you drop the truck.

It's definitely a smaller company so there's a bonus if you don't like the large faceless companies. Seems to me that attitude is the biggest deal in trucking. Reading the threads on this site shows distinctly different opinions when it comes to the same company. Those that like their companies (almost a cheerleader of types) and those that feel they were screwed.

I've worked for small and big companies and that is not a big deal to me. I don't care too much whether they know me by name or truck number. Sometimes, I actually prefer the anonymity of being at a large company. But the last small company I was at, I liked very much.

I actually live in Norman which is even closer. And I'm on the north side of Norman so I am really almost in Moore, about 5 miles from Vaughan. That is another good thing.

I'm not officially hired yet. All of my backgrounds, drug test, physical, etc, I know are all good. But I don't know how many other people have applied in the last couple of days.

But you're right about how one person may think a company is great, and the next guy thinks it is living hell. Attitude goes a long way, and then sometimes you have just have to bounce around some before you find the right place.

I just found out Vaughans is getting a dozen new tractors and 15 new roll up door trailers in the next few weeks. He likes the modern equipment and the fact that when something is broken Penske will fix it without waiting.
A company he talks highly about, and is trying to get back on with, is Stevens trucking. Not to be confused with Stevens Transport of Dallas fame. He really enjoyed his time there. The good thing about both companies is that neither gives a dang about idle time. Makes it nicer when it's 100 or freezing out.

Yeah, I asked about the idling and he said they did not pay much attention to it. He also said the new tractors would have APU's. So I'm going in today to fill out paperwork to get started. I could be going out today or tomorrow, with another driver, on a short run to learn their system and paperwork.

Cool Good luck. I might be seeing you out there as my Uncle is trying to get me to work there running as a team. As far as APU's that's cool. Not to crazy about slip seating either.

Yeah, looks like it is tough to stay legal there. I bailed. Team is probably the way to go.
