When applying to a company, how far back do you LEGALLY have to go in your history ???
I have a couple things from the 80's and 90's, but they no longer show on my record.
Does the insurance companies records trump the DMV's records ???
Driving Record from the past ???

When hiring on to a new company most check your history back three years to five years. However some convictions that are serious stay on your record for ten or more years.Fmcsa requires companies to go back three years but again some go back ten years. In my homestate my driving abstract is six years history but with older history on it if it were a serious enough offense. Now if you had a previous license in another state, the state is required to go back ten years on that record under FMCSA guidelines.Insurance company history searches vary by state and state law.Insurance industries doing business in a state are governed by state law so no, insurance companies don't trump a states dmv dept.

Insurance companies use the DMV program to review adverse hiistory if any. Get a copy of your MVR so you dont fudge any dates.

So if it's not listed on a 10+ year DMV driver report, then it's not required to report???
