They make more money importing drivers and getting money from the gov't for it. It's a business.

And yet you would reccomend them to someone. Am I missing something? Somewhere along the line if you are involved in the industry you have to compete in one way shape of form with carriers that import drivers and pay them LESS than you earn (I hope) and yet you think this is OK!

    Again, what am I missing?

i would recommend yanke to anybody--while i didnt drive there--i did work there for 3 years,i dont agree with the importing of drivers--but i guess it is something they had to do to keep competitive
there are other companies that did this as well and that was cause nobody would work for them
sooo i really wouldnt put yanke on the bottom feeder list

To me, it seems you want to close the doors of Canada to anyone else from getting in. Maybe I'm reading this wrong, but that's what I'm seeing from your posts. Other carriers still thrive out there despite carriers like Yanke importing drivers. So, I really don't see a problem with it. If someone wishes to come to Canada to work hard and make themselves a productive member of Canadian society, then who am I to say it's wrong of them to work for Yanke, or any other carrier that is willing to import drivers?

I realize you have your viewpoint, and it's set in stone, and as such I wouldn't even try to persuade you to see it from anothers' point of view. I'm just wondering, are you angry with Yanke for importing people to work for a cheaper rate, or for them importing people to add to Canada's population, or is there some other reason you're so vehemently against this practice?

I am vehemently (great adjective by the way) opposed to importing help to an industry that is over populated with help. IF there was a driver shortage for a pro-longed period of time then I might re-consider importing drivers BUT at this point in time when there is no shortage all importing drivers does is keep wages down.

when they were importing drivers from eaurope-in my opinion they were getting a better class of driver than they would get off of the street here--but now that market has dried up and some are getting their drivers from east asia area--and the quality has gone down--still some very good and very expirienced drivers---but not all of them

Are there really that many good drivers with great attitudes that are unemployed? I haven't come across too many. But, I'll admit I don't know where to go find those people. I usually find drivers who are griping over the silliest of things instead, and have such crappy attitudes, that no one in their right mind would hire them.

But you would rather hire someone who "buys" a license to drive one of these and has absolutely no regard for anyone but themselves?? Who are you kidding?? You are the kind that we need outa this industry. Importing weak drivers is why the rates from Vancouver heading south are under a buck a mile, and you think this is good! You are a joke...plain and simple!!!!

You sure do make a lot of assumptions. And you love to hurl insults, all because someone has a view that differs from you.

Those who adapt to the changes, will flourish. Those who think everything should stay as it always was, will end up falling by the wayside. Change is inevitable. You may as well learn this now, or it will be a long, costly lesson if you decide to fight it. But, it's your choice.

Rates are what they are. You can either learn to run on crappy rates, OR, you can do as many others do and only run when the rate is right. Or, you can do what you wish I would do(and will be doing), and leave the industry.
