This was very useful for my CR England vs. Werner employment decision! Plus, the possibilities of dedicated accounts and Petes/Kenworths. I'm really tired of driving Freightliners...they get the job done but there's always an interior quality issue or door you have to slam shut. I've seen these two problems on every single Freightshaker I've driven.

I called Werner yesterday and since I have 30 days of experience and a CDL from a community college, they are putting me straight into a truck with a trainer as soon as they have one available. I have to call Werner back Monday to see when they will have a trainer available.

I think my mind's made up after reading all of these positive Werner threads...I didn't hear much positive at all about CR England.

I'm looking forward to hearing back from Werner.

Just like luvtheroad, I too have been hearing some pretty terrible things about Werner. I'm only 21 and I am about to start school in ohio. I also got a call from Lisa. I was really excited to hear from someone so reputable. And as it was mentioned large companies always have a lot of negative feedback. I guess I just wanted to say it's nice to hear something good but its also a little nerve racking to know that sometimes these negative stories aren't just made up.

I put some negatives on this company on another thread, but I will say during my time at Werner, I was pretty successful.

I got on a SWEET dedicated route hauling doors to a bunch of Home Depots in TX, NM, LA, AR, and OK. I did alot of hauling down to New Orleans and I would pick up a load of door skins out of Laurel, MS and take it to Greenville TX. After that, I would pick up another load of doors out of Garland TX and do it all over again. Man...talking about easy money......

Only thing I don't like about Werner is how they do their training. I guess it really depends more on the load planners and dispatchers than the training department.

If you are patient with ppl in the offices and shops....If you can overlook all that, Werner is a good company for you. Just do your job, and you won't have any problems.

I don't know where .21 cpm came from because when I started there as a rookie in 2002, it was .24 cpm starting out...

I left there in 2007 to start an even sweeter deal with Tango Transport out of Shreveport.

I'm 59 and 165 lbs. Good health, but the unloading may be a challenge. Does Werner only have runs that require off loading? And any hints about how to get on with a good company. Thanks.

Well i was told it's majority of drop and hook but i imagine most of the time you will have people that will unload the trailer for you and as far and getting on with them call a recruiter and they will get you all set up.

I am still thinking about them. I also got a pre-hire from Covenant Transport, they also look very decent. I would love to be a south-southwestern regional driver. I prefer the weather and roads:) I have also heard a lot of interesting things about the paperless logs. Obviously I have never used them but from what I have read I don't know if I want to ever use them. Any input?
