Schneider National Carriers - Green Bay, Wi.

I seen this thread and felt I had to respond. For anyone who is considering Scneiders training program I would highly recommend against it. I am speaking of experience. I went through their training program and even though I passed I saw many things I did not like. Upon arrival you are required to sign a contract. This is a huge money maker deal. The students are required to spend so much time on those rediculous simulators which are nothing like the real truck and therefore are a waste of time. Schneider claims they help the student but I fail to see how they help when they feel nothing like a real truck and you do not even shift gears. Driving a truck is all about multitasking. If you can't do more than one thing at a time you should stay home. Some of the students didn't even get that much time behind the wheel of a truck. Those who did well were favored and spent much more time driving. I saw some who got less than 20 hours behind the wheel of a truck in the two week period your there and were failed because they couldn't pass a test. Less than 20 hours leaves no wonder why they couldn't pass. Some students never even did a simple straight line back. I remember one student almost took out a telephone pole and still passed. One backed into another trailer and still passed. Yet I was in a truck with a young lady who was failed simply because she wasn't up to speed on the down shifting. She never hit anything. She controlled the trailer better than most. But because she had not quite gathered that down shifting she was failed, sent home, and still expected to pay over 4000 dollars for training that never taught her anything. Again, I passed their training in Green Bay but after what I saw I was not about to stay with Schneider. I was told I would have to repay the 4000 dollars. I explained that was fine by me as I would make better money somewhere else to pay for that anyhow. I understand there are problems with every company. I never had an illusion of what to expect as far as driving a truck goes. But I couldn't have imagined what I saw in Green Bay during their training. Some people want to do something during their life so badly. One young guy I went through the training with was so amped and reading to get out on that road but was sent home simply because he hadn't quite got the shifting either. It would seem these people would be offered a little extra attention. After all, it is the man with the heart for the job that will stick around for years to come. Just because someone catches on quickly doesn't mean he'll be around in two months as he may quit right away. Again, if your looking at Schneider for training, I would look else where. I am not bias in my words as the problems I saw were not towards me or had anything to do with me. But i am not blind to see what is happing to so many other people who have a heart for the job but lack the skills since they weren't given equal time to practise. I thought this was going to be a driver friendly site until I saw his name under the Schneider thread, right off the bat!

YOU screw-up people's lives by filling them full of your lies about Schneider being a good company - and no, that is not an opinion! It is a factual statement supported by my personal experience coupled with reams of testimony from ex-Schneider-driving friends of mine.

This is my very first post on this site, unfortunately, but guess what? You just made a new friend. Whenever your name comes up, I am going to be all over you, like you-know-what!

I have no respect for Schneider or ANYONE who collaborates with those unethical crooks.

This guy has been posting this same line on other sites for at least 2 years, now. I see he has something to do with running this site, which brings up the following point - these sites are operated by recruiters and agents of large trucking companies, acting incognito.

TurboTrucker is not being honest when he claims impartiality.

He may be paid through a third-party arrangement, but he is paid. Run a check on his total posts on all trucking sites and then tell me he is doing as a hobby. No way.

I assume I will be banned from this site in light of his involvement with administration, but until that occurs, I will be right behind him and his dishonest BS.

Don't let him con others into making the Schneider mistake.

You know they say fish is brain food. I think you are a few tons behind. Is Schneider your relative or something? Did you happen to see he has posted on other companies as well. i.e. JB Hunt? Sounds like someone peed in your corn flakes.
Opinions are welcome here either pro or con. People like Turbo help point out the good and the bad in companies trying to help people avoid mistakes that others have made.
Your opinions (if they can be expressed in a mature and without foul language ) are welcomed here also. But don't come in here bashing another forum member just because his opinions and comments don't please you.

Pre-hired with Schneider, leaving on the 28th. It was this or five weeks at a local college -- just fine with me, but the campus is over a bridge which has an obscene level of traffic at all times of the day, and I don't want to sit in it every day for five weeks. (Sounds like a prissy complaint, but try it sometime: I-64 E from Newport News to Norfolk.)

One thing I can say about Schneider - having micromanaged a freight yard for a Japanese company here - is that their drivers never blew smoke up my ##* with bobtails. USX, Western Express, to a lesser extent JBH, would occasionally try to steal a trailer during Summer or Christmas. It did happen once with a Schneider driver, but he was so obviously a d*** that I don't hold it against the company. Also, their drivers had a very bad reputation with all the other companies and the company I was working for itself. A few of the drivers were cagey - most cases because their trainer would be glowering in the cab - but most were quite neat, courteous and professional.

I think it was a Schneider driver who notified my boss when I was spotted asleep in my car one slow chilly night, too. I don't hold it against him...

 

No matter what happens, stick it out for a year. Don't be one of the many who hire on, get mad about something, quit, go somewhere else, then complain about the company wanting money from you

 

My brother thinks they walk on water. Ok pay is under 40 your first year. But a good drop and hook is always good.
