Im 17 and in my last semester of high school. Don't have money for college and i've seen a few family members do long haul. Trucking seems like an alright Job to me, just a back-up plan incase i mess up college and its also how i plan on raising $60,000 for college. anywho, I currently have my G2. I'd just like info on how old you have to be to apply/be tested for you A-z class drivers licence. How difficult it would be to find a trucking job for an 18 year old (clean driving record) and where i should start.
Thanks.

The golden age is 18. But you must have a G2 exit done first.
From my experiance it is much easier to go from a DZ to an AZ.
You could go to a truck drivivng school, but it could cost up to $6000. -
I am pretty sure that you would be able to run into the U.S. until 21.
The rest of Canada, not sure.
I am certain you would have to find a local, mom and pop outfit, as the big carriers insurance will not like 18 yearolds. -
Generally for insurance you need to be over 25. You can't interstate until you are 21. Most companies really will not give you a chance at even 21 due to the insurance coverage even if you graduate from a trucking school. You may be able to get it for a local agricultural job at least that is what it is like in the US for those under 21.

Im leaning more towards hauling within Canada until i do turn 21/25. Im taking my G test (G2 exit) in the next 2-3 months. Keep the advice coming though.

Unless things have changed in 30 years, I was running in the USA at 19 without any trouble.

yes 18 to run anywhere in canada, and 21 to truck anywhere in usa
i got my AZ at 18 and got hired to run in canada until i was 22, then i did some US trucking, and now i am doing local again.
it will be hard to find a job, but look hard and you will find one.
