Nope. We are on E-Logs. And if you read through the blog, you will see that we run back and forth to the house and get a reset every week. When we run to the coast it's a mandatory reset there. I've been on Elogs for 15 months with no viloations.

Forgive me, I just went online to check my log book, I had 2 violations, both for failing to do a post trip, both on my way home back in October when I was in a hurry to catch my cruise with the wife.

 

Al, back into door 41 with your doors open, it's our assigned door. The lumpers, either Glenn or Eric will knock on your door between 4 and 5 am for the paperwork. It's $250 to get unloaded. Call Eddie for the money around 7:30. You don't need to be on the dock. If door 41 is taken then go to 40. Doing it this way will be easier on the sleep cycle and is how we do it there.

 

Failure to show a pre/post inspection is nothing. Over 11/14 is a letter in your file. After 5 letters it's a training session video. But to be real honest with you I don't really know the particulars about excessive violations. I haven't had but 2 minor violations in the 15 months we've been on them. I'm thinking that after almost 28 years of doing a log book I kinda know how to do one. It made me more aware of making sure my E-Log is done right. There's no going back and correcting anything on it if a mistake is made. Now every so often I might forget to log off the system when at the yard but at that point if the shop is road testing my truck I can go into safety and have them correct the problem. Because we are dispatched legally and are run legally the E-log has really been a good thing, for me anyway. I haven't seen any decrease in my mileage and earnings. What this system has made me very aware of is time management and trip planning.
