Interested in RV transporting? Northern Indiana- Elkhart area- has several Co.s to check into. Good ones are- StarFleet,Mapletree,Bennet. Beware of Co.-ClassicTransport- they are lowest paying deadbeats.
I'm passing this info to the truckers who are considering this type of trucking vs. 18wheelers. Ya, most of RV trans.co.s only pay one way,the loaded miles, its base per mile plus a little fuel allowance=$1.10+per mile. Bennet will sometimes get return loads to avoid deadhead miles.
Equipment requirements are 1ton diesel,dually, 8'box, 10 ply tires,16-20k 5th wheel hitch,2-5/16" & 2" ball &load levelers. Truck should be 10yrs. or newer.
RV-Transporting.com has a few Co.s to ck. into.

we are paid by the load, and he owns the trucks. we have 3 1 ton trucks and 2 3/4 ton trucks. only one is a dually, and we haev a step deck flat bed and a wedge trailer. they are for cars and pop up trailers.
we get paid by the day. he pays for fuel and insurance on the trucks and maintnance.
i still have my cdl so i can pull the flat bed or the wedge and triple axle trailers. i drive a 1 ton with srw not duals. but the hitch is a 20k fifth wheel with a 20k goosneck below it and a reciever hitch.
RV transporting is a good way to stay on the road with out alot of hassle. -
Maybe.
It is also a way to see the country. But in the last couple of years it has become a money hunt with the DOT. I have had many level 1 inspections. -
Why is this in the 'bad company" section?
formertaxidriver and Rollover the Original Thank this. -
I am interested in RV transporting. How should I start? What must I do?

Ken; Just google "driveaway companies" and you should get most of the details you seek. Check Horizon, Bennett, and Quality. Good luck
