Wow guys, I am new to this site as I am interested by the talk of Cargo Express in Boise. I have worked for Cargo for 8 yrs. I am as familiar with the school, Idaho Provisioners, as one could be. Say I am "best friends" with the only instuctor that teaches in that school. He has taught in the school for about 4 yrs. He has trained over 125 students personally, trained for 7 yrs overall, including OTR training, been rookie of the yr,driver of the yr out of aprox. 115 drivers, been in 3 trk rodeos, in which he placed 3rd one yr and 4th 2 others, taken 2nd place for the most miles driven in one yr and had a tremendous amount to do with the school's growth. Questions anyone?? I have read through the forum above and will agree with some of the things said as far as equipment goes.
They have been holding onto some of the older equipment too long in my opinion. Do you think those trucks are paid off?? Hmmm? They have '04 CAT C-15 motors in them that have been fairly solid in the midst of newly mandated exaust regulations set forth recently. I believe that might have something to do with the fact they have held on to them as long as they have. Old equipment will have problems though. The '05 KW's they are running with the Cummins ISX motors and even a few of the '07 KW's (same motor) are in some cases, less impressive.
Why is it that company drivers are so hard on trucks?? (In lots of ways). Many companies have many problems.
In my experience, there are always two sides to a story. Attn: Long haul hill billy, I have no idea what your talking about and I don't think you do either lol.
In reagards to the school again, how many students are offered work by Cargo at the end of class compared to other CDL schools that advertise "job placement"? How many of their students have accidents the first yr as a result of lack of training? I have heard most of the major accidents over there, including freight claims issues involve drivers that already have CDLs and in some cases come from other schools...lol.Or How many students refuse to go to work, pay the tuition afterwards or have anything to say about the actual education they recieved? Hmmmmm?
Trucking has always been what it is, time away from home. Though, in today's age, we have so many other avenues to communicate with each other available it's not even funny, i.e, webcams, cell phones, laptops and such....Right, there is no substitute for family time in person but It is a driver's responsibility to balance the lifestyle, correct?
As far as I know, not ONE student that has ever come through that school has been fed a line of bull. It is true, you must pay dues, as have I, to get into different, more comfortable positions in the trucking industry. Thanks for listening and drive safe everyone!

Cargoexpress does not pay enough unless you live at home and dont have any bills. If this is you then the 350 a week would be plenty. The folks seem to be pretty nice and communacation was good with dispatch. I drove for them for 2 months. No bennies for a year. 75% of their fleet is 04 internationals with high miles. I was lucky to have one of the better running trucks, 875,000 miles and I was running all 48. I would say that all companies have their good and bad. There is no such thing as a perfect company, just as there is no such thing as a perfect marriage.

Actually there are 2 with 2 or less posts! The first cheerleader "gsdreams" has 2 the last we saw of him was 05.05.08!

The second cheerleader was "seenyourblackeyesscream" and last seen 09.23.10 after only 2 posts!

We might be truckers but we surely aren't stupid! We can smell eeerrrr tell a company hack attempting to add a little spin to a rather depressing thread of a rather sad sounding company but it does add a little humor to the thread!

If the posting dates are a trend we'll see a cheerleader back in here about 02.14.12!

Forget about Cargo Express for a moment and ask yourself, do I know all the regulations as well as I should? Or do I apply myself in a fashion that would make me stand out amongst the rest in a positive way? Hell, do I know how to do a complete brake test as issued by the DOT?? Something that is, as basic as you get concerning pretrips and driver knowledge. While many of you scratch your heads, some of us out here work on a daily basis to change a few of the existing figures.
Back to Cargo Express, they have learned a few lessons the "hard" way. They have made their share of mistakes and are by no means above scrutiny. All I was trying to say is, it takes both the driver hired and the company that employs to get the job done. The sooner some realize this, the better a few of those relationships may become. In the end, I will still side with the driver but I have been on both sides of the fence and neither side is, as green as can be......awaiting your reply, SnyB.

Cargoexpress sure became the talk, lets not forget the shop, how many shops will fix promblem that driver tells them needs fixed. I havent seen a shop yet that is worth a darn. I have drove for a few companies. Most of the time I did the repairs myself, minor of course .
You are right like you said Cargoexpess has its share of promblems, like most companies do,let's no forgetthat they are a small part of Navajo express.,was not impressed with their shop.

To: ROLLOVER, I apologize as I did have a few typos in that first sentence. They are corrected now, thanks. I was and am trying to say that though a company might have a bad reputation, they still employ drivers and instructors that care about threads like this one. I am one of those people making an honest effort to mediate the issues on the driver's side as well as the company side so that the people that work for that company, with myself, will have fewer headaches. Industry wide, in my opinion, There are major problems on each side of "the fence". If we were talking about Cargo Express 15 yrs ago, good lord, they were a mess, in my opinion. I DO believe they have come a long way and still have further to go. One day at a time, one problem or issue at a time. That is how you make repairs to the trucking industry and small companies.
To:pSNEL, The shop over there, just Fri. the 18th, finished a complete engine swap. Out with the old and in with.....Frakinstein, An ISX Cummins engine built from a total of three different engines. Runs Awesome! The bays are never empty over there but the real problem with that shop is that it is not big enough. A company that has 115-125 trucks should have at LEAST, 4, two sided bays.

Q:Why do some drivers still call the rear bumper of the trailer as an ICC bar? Food for thought, Take care all and be safe. SnyB

Because an old gone away gooberment section called the "ICC" Short for Interstate Commerce Commission" (Now known as the DOT/FMCSA) mandated a "bumper" be put on the rear of trailers so that cars could not drive under the trailer killing the passengers when they ran into the rear of the thing. This usually caused the persons in the car to become decapitated in most of those run unders. Never a pretty sight

It usually works unless the car is going so fast that physics say it will still run under the trailer taking out the ICC bumper untill the radiator reaches the rear set of tires and the axle they are attached to!
    Thus the name "ICC Bumper".

It also made it easier for the trucker to climb into the rear of the trailer so it wasn't a bad thing for several reasons.

    otherhalftw Thanks this.
