great thread. seriously, kind of gets sidetracked but entertaining. Take the advise if you can find it. Report your accidents, and yes scraping trailers, popping panels are accidents. Do they need to be repaired, probably not as far as safety of the vehicle is concerned. But lets be real, they need to be fixed. You represent the company and when your vehicle is all banged up it should concern the shipper about your ability to drive the truck.

Oh well, just keep posting stuff, this was the highlight of my day so far.

    ambivalence Thanks this.

No need to tell me, I became accustomed to the lifestyle.
    I mean that.
Only cab scrapes. Believe me, I saw a team tear up a new trailer by backing wide and I didn't say diddly-squat (and not being a snitch was irresponsible because I got a broken hood bracket from probably a bump). I once carried parts for Sonoco in Richmond,VA that needed the trailer fumigated before it was loaded so I know about the importance of damage to the trailer.
Glad to know fellow trucker. Always a pleasure.

Glad to see PAM finally started getting seats with armrests on them.

When I worked there from 03-05, the only trucks with them were the Volvos.

Did I mention both of these team members just sat in the truck and started backing like they were some fat kats?
Folks, make use of a spotter. Alot of the older guys out there arent't trying to make you look like a wimp or ##### by waving you in a slot. It may seem that way!

Anyone ever pull a crooked trailer for this company? Inspect the 10000 series very well for rust lock on the tandem shift bars and remember they have no abs, the 50000 series for ABS (some are not equipped) and air hose problems, and do not always trust the 80000 and 90000 series trailers for a smooth ride. You get bad trailer on a windy day and you can forget looking out to your right side!

Hindsight is truly 20/20. I told John Spagnola in safety exactly how it goes, and David already had it coming.

    Was John receptive?
    Was David flabbergasted?
    How do you feel now?

    December 10, 2010

To the Department of Safety and Work Records:

    Hello,

My name is (left blank), and as a former employee of PAM Transport I am writing this letter to ask that those responsible for reporting my work history and job performance kindly review the statements that were entered on my DAC record, and update the record to show that this former driver only unawaringly violated a company policy, i.e. I violated a company policy but it should not include an unsatisfactory safety record.
Included are pictures in my defense which justify my every concern for safety while working under PAM transport executives, and I would like to add that not all of the challenges were of equal magnitude. I was once told by my former trainer that each of the docks PAM transport delivered to or loaded from had a rating based on their degree of difficulty to get into the loading area, and I will guarantee you that my performance at PAM exceeded unsatisfactory since I have all of the bill of lading records to show that.
With that said and the pictures included, you will notice that I have operated very new equipment and have exhibited quality performance without complaint while employed, I ask, would it be like myself to question why I was told to clean out my truck on the morning of Nov. 8, 2010 if that was your immediate decision? I know when my efforts are futile, and the morning I was discharged John Spagnola in the safety department at PDS North Jackson, OH did not want to hear me out.
Now, I am hoping someone will hear me concerning my work record report and update the report to show that I only violated the company policy by failing to go through the casualty claims/accident hotline for reporting my remarks which records should show were written on a shop write up in North Little Rock on 8/5/2010 and on the remarks section of my log on 6/8/2010. As far as the Port Treverton, PA incident on 10/26/10 which I gave information on, it was only after being verbally harassed by David in casualty claims that I admitted that I had not reported the jackknife scenario because I realized that the bill of lading had to be mailed in separately attn:billing and that the remarks section had totally slipped me. I think I am being fair when I mention that in such an area for loading wood a jackknifed panel was the least of my concerns. I skillfully exhibited safety practices as I turned around in their small dirt lot to prevent a blind side back which I am also familiar with as my first few dedicated runs proved to be useful.
Please have a little sympathy and update my DAC record. I would never have intended to be justifying myself through this letter, but I was not given that chance in person. Once again, enclosed are a few pictures which exemplify my concern for work safety and job satisfaction.

    Yours sincerely,

PS when I called up there and asked whether my termination could've been prevented by taking responsibility for the cost of the part replacements through payroll deductions, Norma had the nerve to answer my question with another question and said "well how long would that have taken?"

Again, because of little bitty things, they better know why we seem unfriendly!
