Reefers are seldom a problem anymore...the new ones are very quiet, and the old ones are slowly disappearing.
Some APUs that have not been maintained are a bigger issue for me than reefers. Either they stink up the place or they've got a gosh-awful screeching noise coming from a belt that hasn't been maintained.

next time you see a MAY Trucking Truck look at the side of the trailer about 10 feet back from the nose, there will be a BIG vertical line and it says If you can see this line GOAL. Because if you can see that line in your mirror your about to hit the trailer with your sleeper
American Truckertinytim Thanks this. -
my fifth wheel is all the way back because my deck has a 36" king pin setting and i dont like alot of weight on my steer axle.
if i'm circling a parking lot it means i came in the wrong direction and i'm trying to correct my error so that i wont have to do a blind side back in.
once i hit the lot and notice my head lamps are beaming on other trucks, i switch to markers only and i stay that way until i shut down, and then it's no lights. if i'm not moving or planing on moving in the next fifteen mins i'm no lights, unless someone's backing in next to me then i'm all markers. i dont put on my hazards until i spot a hole i want.
i never pull through, i always back in.. most of my loads and unloads dont require any backing.. it's normally "put the trailer right here parallel to the siding with ya rig facing dat'a way driver". so when ever i get to truck stops (normally just for fuel or a 34hr reset) i take that time to get a little practice in.
i dont like spending the night at truck stops, normally because of all of the B.S that goes on, blocked fuel isle, ripped hoods, trucks scattered every which of ways.. so i do all of my 10hr resets at rest areas.. ya dont have to worry about "Jeff Gordon" catching six gears, usually pretty quiet, and trouble makers tend to stay clear because of random DOT presence.. my log is legal and truck up to standard so i could care less.
so much for sun, reefer noise, ground tilt.. if i jus ran 11hrs none stop +/- 3hrs (usually +) my truck could be at a 45* angle, the drive next to me could have a rig master in need of a tune up and an air dryer that just wont quit.. i'ma sleep reguardless. -
Yeah, I know....I can be evil sometimes....'olhand Thanks this. -
when i run the road, rest areas are preferred for sleep times, fuel during the day when the truck stops aren't mad houses and grab a shower in off peak hours also. I hate truck stops even to fuel, let alone sleep...
trucker_101 Thanks this. -
Only reason I consider ground tilt is because if I sleep with my head downhill, I wake up about three hours later choking on stomach acid.
I am medicineman Thanks this. -

I would, but the dog would be looking at me and asking the same question I'm always asking him: "What the &#$% are you doing on my pillow??"
ProPilot and trucker_101 Thank this.
