They're represented by the IBT, they are a LTL carrier, they have orange and white trucks, what else do you need to know?

 

I worked for their sister company Reddaway. Depends what your after as far as driving. City P & D is extremely high paced and physical, but line is a lot of sitting and driving... so just depends. I didn't stick around there because their schedule wasn't working for my family. I worked 14 hours a day, which was great for my bank account but I didn't get to see my little girl all week because I wouldn't get off until 10-1030. If that doesn't bother you or your not in that position jump on it, though I would say keep an eye on what their parent company is doing. YRCW looks like they're in big trouble. Holland, Glen Moore, and Reddaway are separated from their parent company to a degree but it would still concern me if they were to go bankrupt which seems likely.

 

I still keep an eye on the company and their stocks and all of that even though I don't work for them anymore. A few days ago YRCW lost almost 50% of their value on the DOW. The next day I read a story about all of the hiring they are doing. I wonder if it wasn't a counter-attack (so to speak) to let people know "Hey, we're doing good. Buy our stock".

I work there but I'm on my way out. I work linehaul out of the Louisville terminal. Been there 3 years. They work you 6 days a week. If you get home Saturday morning they will force you out Sunday night. If you get hung out til Sunday morning you will leave Monday night. You will make 70k plus the first year but only home 1 day a week. Can't make any plans for you weekend. The equipment is horrible. Most trucks have over 1 million miles on them and are falling apart. Yes it's union but the older drivers voted last time to screw newer drjvers. They voted yes to a contract that took away a weeks vacation from new guys and lower pay for new hires. Big joke really. The Teamsters aren't what they used to be. Never should have even been allowed to vote on in first place. Yrc is pushing all of its debt payments until 2019 when there will be a new contract vote. So you know right now there will be no increase in pay or benefits. The pension is a joke. You have to work 4 years to get 1 year retirement. What this means is if you work 40 years you can retire with 10 years. That means you will only get 1000 a month for 40 years of work. I can't take being away from my family 6 days a week any more. Will take 10 years just to get a decent home daily bid run. No future for new drivers here.

 

Forgot to mention that the Teamsters have a board member position at yrc. The last appointee pushed really hard for the new contract vote which included more concessions and cuts. This guy resigned two months after the Yes vote. He cashed in his stocks worth 2 million dollars. Major conflict of interest would you say? Now the Teamsters have appointed a new suit to sit on the board. I can't believe this is even legal!
