questions about LCV and max legal weight

    Just curious

    What is the maximum legal weight without any special permits for a set of 48' turnpike doubles?
    Normal class 8 tractor, tandem axle 48' trailers with a tandem axle convert dolly
    Is it 80k or 160k or 148k???
    Would you be allowed more if the trailers were spread axle trailers?

    Anyone drive for Gypsum Express on the NY thruway?

    It's all listed in your Rand McNally. Wyoming has highest gvw at 117000. Just be certain the tractor is legal for the weight also.

    No permits required, 143000 reg on tractor and correct trailer is all thats needed?

    Again, this only on the NY Thruway.Permits are required.Driver certification is required(very strict guidelines).Equipment certification is required on a startup and yearly basis.What stated was for a 9 axle LCV.Two tandem 48's,one tandem dolly,one tandem tractor.
