    Hi

I'm trying to sort this whole Williston situation out. I'm coming out there soon and since the housing is the big problem I was thinking of trying to get on with Halliburton or someone like them so I could live in a mancamp until I get myself well situated. CAn anyone tell me how much I could expect to make per year driving for Halliburton ? Has anyone been able to get a driving job and housing in advance of coming out there? Any other related advise you may have for me will be well appreciated .

Thank You very much, now for sure Im going over there.I just have to worry about finding a place to stay, I hope there are some vacant motels maybe on the outskirts of the oil field area. I need a change of scenery and this should do it 100%.

Patty, I see quite a few women driving around Watford City, if you have a decent driving record and can pass a wizz quiz you will get hired. Just south of Watford City some one put a couple hundred campers(looks to me like FEMA trailers) in and just starting to rent them out. I'm sure they will be around $1000 # month or more.Did not write down the phone # . Good luck

Newb here, getting ready to start at the SAGE school in Cheyenne once I start Terminal Leave (Retiring from USAF after 22+ years) next week, and am looking for current info on the situation up there. I do have four years experience driving trucks in the Military, but that doesn’t do me any good in the civilian world. All of my experience is with flatbeds and lowboys hauling equipment and vehicles on both pavement and gravel/dirt and snow/ice. I also have experience with 4K through 10K standard and all-terrain forklifts, and front end loaders.

Just a couple questions since I understand the housing situation kind of sucks up there; Do some employers have 30amp trailer hookups for folks to use who have their own trailers? Clean/fresh water hookups for trailers. If I took a position up there I would bring my trailer instead of trying to scrounge up housing. Plus I don’t want to move my family up there since we have a home, wife has a job, and son in school, here in Wyoming.

I’m guessing there are a bunch of different trucking companies up there with varying work schedules. From reading these threads, it looks like 21 on 7 off is a common schedule. Are there other types depending on the employer? I.e. 14/14. I would be on that in a heartbeat. At this point in time, I am keeping all options on the table, but the OTR lifestyle seems a little too chancy in terms of steady home-time. A set schedule is something I can work with.

Would driving up there count as OTR experience for future employment considerations?

It is possible that you could get a job with Taylor hauling crude and not need to uproot the family.
Now granted the pay is unlikely to be what ND is but the cost of living is lower in cheyenne.
