Martin is not as good as some claim. The trucks are getting old and smelly, run 63 mph....OTR miles are low regional sucks doing short runs 2 and 3 per day in Texas.. I have personally seen drivers out there who got loads 1700 miles with 7 days to deliver and on the other side seen regional drivers given loads back too back when they are running low on hours and told get it there...any way.....keep going and log it on tommorrow... yea fer some o da kraft cheese.....ROTGLMAO

You can ask someone that just started working for Marten and they well tell you that they are getting lots of miles. But the higher up the pay scale that you go the less miles you well here about. My husband and I used to hear alot of there is nothing right now. Which was a lie they just wanted to save money. I bet you if you have all of your copies of the paper work and went over all your pay stubs you would be missing pay on some trips there was many of times that i had to call because of missing pay

I agree Marten treats the driver like a robot. Still driving for Marten but not for long. Their sliding scale is a ripoff. Drivers were to get an across the board pay raise on April 1. Instead drivers are losing money and gaining more miles. Marten bothers you during your hometime. The qualcomm constantly is constantly going off during drive and sleeper time. Told many times to get loaded while in sleeper berth time and to move tractor from dock to outside location. Have taken videos of the qualcomm messages instructing me to move. Bad company, way behind on loads.

I responded to your sleeper berth/off duty problem in your other thread.

This, though, saddle up brother. Turn the Qcomm volume down at night, and holy roller, if you can't deal people sending you messages over the Qcomm while you're driving (aka at work) you'd better climb out of that truck and pack for home, cause you're aren't going to last.

At least with the MCP200 we can actually mute the thing. The old qualcomms, even if you turned them down, they'd still beep full volume when you got a new message.

Not defending Marten, so much, as pointing out that, in this particular instance, the problem is yours.

Yes the sliding pay scale does suck. Work harder, not smile. The Perder deim is kiiling me. Trying to refi my house payment, and the banks are just laughing at me when i show my w-2.

No, i don't feel like a robot. I plan my trips accordingly, I tell my dispatcher when i'm driving , when i need a break. Do not plan me till after break.

When they try to call me when i'm home, or off duty, thier phone # comes up unavalible #. I DO NOT ANSWER IT. I will snd qc msg, the day before i leave home, to let them know when im leaving to head back to Stockton( i always drop my mty there to bobtail home) And please plan accordingly.

I move my truck from the dock to on site parking, under 7 mph, and have yet to get violated. If you are nervous about that, go to line 5 off duty driving, add comment, moved to parking area. it's when you touch a public street, is when a problem starts.
You need to stand firm and tell them, NO I WILL NOT MOVE TRUCK ONTO PUBLIC STREET WHILE ON BREAK. Are you going to pay my tickets if something happens while on a public street?

When they ask you to do something illegal, make sure you say no in a QC message. Not on the phone.

I worked for Marten back in the late 90's, no complaints except driver trainer dispatcher, otherwise, good company, good miles.

Oh your not kidding. When i ask them to send me a qc msg, they get defensive, and say ah never mind.

    Makes you wonder doesn't it!
QC can be your best friend at times! At least it will be there to back you up!

The QC is not anyone friend. Marten can changes your messages on it, my husband and I found that out the hard way. We had a dispatcher that wanted us to take a load without the hours. We got into a feight with them, the next day we appoligized to them and it was no where in the QC print out when they were fieghting us on our unemployment. Don't do anything with Marten over the phone, they well tell you one thing and then change it. I started taking pics of the QC messages after everything was said and done. On my husband QC with the new company he can email me messages as well as email me the QC messages he gets.
