    I have 2 of these http://tinyurl.com/44ybrqh
    and they work great.
1 is over a year old and the other is nearing 9 months without a single issue.
Dont let the name or price fool you, they work and work well.
Yes they must be hard wired.

    FWIW,
Anything over 400 watt "plugged in" will under drive the invertor
and it will be toast in no time.

    Pmracing and balizar Thank this.

Got a question for those of you with the 1500W and above inverters. Do you get a lot of RF noise in your CB? I have a 1500W Cobra in my truck, it creates so much RF noise that I have to turn my squelch almost all the way up, which means next to nothing in the line of reception. Just curious if other brands are "quieter". I know the best thing to is get a Pure Sine unit, but Im not ready to drop several hundred $$ yet. Thanks.

Went with the cobra 1500w. It works great. Powers my 700w microwave, no problem.
