would like to hear from US drivers only please

as of two weeks ago ALL lease drivers are being put on milage ONLY and when i was at tunnel hill, ga i saw 4 dri
vers come in and turn in their trucks and go back to company drivers. because they wouldn't make money at milage. (heard 25 drivers turned in trucks that week)

look at all the runs you have made over the last 3-6 months now look at what you would have made on the lease for that time and would you have made more....?

 

i would say company driver or get your own truck, remember that your fixed weely cost for a lease truck from usx will be about $750 (there's alot more than just the truck payment) a week if the truck doesn't move.

my old trainer is in a lease truck with usx and his wife is his codriver (cost an extra $100 a week to team) his weekly fixed cost is $850. we are buying are truck and are fixed cost is $400 a week

if you get a 1000 ml run your still on the hole, 2 1000 ml trips and you MY break even.

remember that every 1000 ml (with fuel discount & fsc) is going to cost you around $540 just in fuel so to run 3000 ml a week your fuel will be around $1620 plus your fixed cost of $750 = $2370 cost per week. what if you sit for a day or two (34hr) and it's hot so you idle or it's cold and you idle.. what if you breakdown...? if it's not under warranty YOU PAY (do you have the money.?). if it is under warranty and your going to be down for 3-4 days waiting for parts do you have the money for the motel and food, and remember that if you are broke down you still owe the $750 a week...

what about winter when it's slow and you may only get 1500 miles a week for a month plus it's good and cold so you have to idle ALOT so eery week you will be in the hole... will you have enought money in the bank to survive it...?

yes i am pointing out the downside alot but if you don't have a plan to survive the downside i don't care how good the upside is you will not make it

alot of drivers you talk to RIGHT NOW will tell you how good they are doing but if they havn't done it all winter when it's slow then what they say doesn't count

if it's what you want to do LOOK real hard at the numbers, look at every load you have run for the last 3-6 months how much downtime, breakdown time, every load, how much you were paid then look at all of it as if you were a lease driver, would you realy have made more...? of so how much more...?

alot of drivers do good as a lease driver BUT alot don't

 

if you want to go lease look at the freightliners i have 9mths left of payments on mine and i am still on percent you just have to ask around not all drivers went back to milage there are still some percent drivers. As for outside cost not covered under warrenty you will have a maintance account. over all I do very well and still manage to run thru the house every other weekend.
