I know! It is hard to imagine! People just are not paying attention. And it's not like it's a new development! That bridge has been closed to trucks for a long time... well over a year, maybe two years now.

I am glad the 01 is south of the bridge. I have nightmares about having a 90 or an 01 on one side of the bridge when I am coming from the other way, and having to go all the way around RI to get to it! lol:biggrin_25524:

    3 years...

Trailer yard at C&S in Aberdeen MD... waitin' on a door. No preplan, but that's ok. My guy is back from gettin' hitched - and I've got darn near all of my costs covered this week in one day.

I used to work at the C & S. Crazy hours and the trucks were never loaded on time. I know you are waiting to unload. Have fun.

A few weeks ago I sat at C&S in Aberdeen for 60 hours waiting to get unloaded! I don't know what the record is but that had to be close.

Headed to Laredo in about 6 hours...

At least at that C&S there is that nice big yard to park in while you wait and even a porta-potty! Nothing else, but what else do you need while you're racking up that detention money? lol

WOW! 60 hours. Thats crazy. I knew we were slow when I worked there, yet, didn't think we were that slow. Detention pay is 24 hours after arrival correct?

Yeah that would've been nice during the big snow storms up here about 2 winters ago. Was stuck working from 6am to 3am due to the snow. Everyone has got to have their frozen banquet dinners. LOL

It varies from location to location - depending on the contract - 2 to 4 hours. Lease operators get paid detention, company drivers aren't so lucky. That being said, my company-side FM was a real stand-up guy. There were times he'd give me some extra pay knowing that I'd been detained, stuck for maintenance, etc - but that was him. Keeping your FM informed on what is happenning can go a long way with getting yourself into a dock.

I arrived at a meat processing facility basically a little before appointment one afternoon, and was still sitting there along with a couple of other truckers (who arrived before me) near the end of the working day there. I'd called my FM an hour or two earlier about this - and I got unloaded before they closed for the night. Sometimes that helps a lot.

Now if the guy I'm waiting for would lite his afterburner!

Flippin' J - used to be Petro, Elkton MD - waiting for a repower going to Augusta and Bangor ME.
