The package I add for Canada with Verizon is another $60, which I can sometimes justify vs. the $.79 a minute that they want.

BUT, this does not include data for a smartfone, for which they want $100 for a measly 200MB! So disable digital roaming if you have a Blackberry!

I have a basic plan (no texting or internet) and I pay $10.00/month with Verizon. All calls to Canada, from Canada and within Canada are like U.S. calls and count against my monthly minutes. My contract is 18 months old. How old is yours?

I've been going to Canadia for 3 years and have found the best thing to do at the border crossings is to act as bored as possible and not let them get you riled up with their questions or searches... sure dude, have at it.

Also make sure that your GPS is programmed for Canada, it can really save your ### in Quebec.

I did nothing but border crossings, a lot of times twice a day. The worse the US side in Detroit, the best, able to get a big truck into a Timmies.
My cell phone, Verizon, North American plan with Canada, $3 extra a month for Ca. Use it just like in the US.
Quebec, no problem, and I can't speak a word of French, but it does help to be able to read the signs, ya just get used to it. I caught myself many times coming back to the US from Quebec, translating the English signs into French!:biggrin_2559:
Oh, and something everyone else has forgotten, yes, you can drink the water.:biggrin_25525:
And what is this GPS? Green Pregnant Sissies?

I have never understood the difference in costs with Verizon plans.

I have them and they want me to pay 10.00 for each of the phones on my plan for Canada. My wife's phone never leaves the state where we live.

Just decided to drop the cost and not even consider making calls for the most part.

I always thought the only reason for Canada was so that Alaska would not be a island.

I know, they're sorta goofy. I've been on this plan for, oh, almost 5 years, my plan may not even be available any more and they're waiting for it to expire so they can really whack me.:biggrin_25525:
