Congratz BlackCat. There's a good chance that we'll run into each other down in Aransas Pass at the barge. I see GoldSpur there all the time.

I'm trying to figure out how to add photos to posts. All I get is this little box with the red X. Anyone know what the deal is? Does anyone see a photo here?

Hi drivers, I have visited this site for many years, researching companies and what not. Not too interested in joining another avenue for trucker whining :biggrin_25522:. However, this thread actually prompted me to join!

After working as a machine rigger for the family business, i was forced to fall back on my trusty plan "B" My CDL with all available endorsement, even HAZ-MAT even tho I hadn't pulled a haz load since 2001. Fearing I would be dealing with another mega company and stuck with some stinky WWE fan for 6 weeks at a stretch, I decided to look into tank hauling. I had never done it but felt I had the natural mechanical skills of driving and rigging so I wasn't intimidated in the least.

Little did I know (living in San Antonio) there was a BOOM just 80 miles south of me screaming for CDL drivers. I now work for a large trucking company and am paid by the load. I was hired with a group of drivers, some have gone on their own and some have been let go. Make no mistake drivers, this is HAZARDOUS work, no hard per se but dangerous. The conditions are rural to say the least and DOT has a hard on for anything oil field related. I was promised $1500/wk 2 loads per day at $120 per load. However, the only time I pull 2 loads a day is by choice. I can pull 3 in 11.5 hrs and occasionally will be asked to pull 4 but as tempting as the money is, sometimes that 4th load makes for a LONG night (did I mention I work nights, by choice) drivers are paid an incentive for working nights and weekends. The equipment is junkie but more because the contract was signed in March and being a big company they pulled equipment from terminals, anywhere from ND, TN, OK and some from the local terminal.

Anyone interested in working down here please email me # luckytx52 at yahoo, like the other drivers, I get a recruiting bonus.

I litteraly got off work 3 hours ago, so if anyone can answer your questions, I'm sure I'm sort of qualified lol. Be safe!

    vmaggs and jvar4001 Thank this.

I'd be surprised if you could pass the new haz-mat requirements. With that said.... Sand haulers are knocking it out as owner ops. I've heard 3k net after fuel is average.

I got my Hazmat in 2009 the law requires for a drug felony to be 5 years old alot of companies are shocked when they see I have a Hazmat that's why I say don't knock it till you try it.

You don't need Hazmat to haul Frac sand although a lot of non Hazmat companies view Hazmat endorsements as a bonus. As for Frac sand, their mostly o/o and I've heard they get about 20% of the load. so this is probably up you alley. Anyhow, just apply to some sand companies and see what happens. I see a lot of Oakley sand trailers if that helps.

LUZON, I'm putting in an application at Martin, I would like your full name to put on the application if they give a driver referral bonus. I don't have enough posts to private message you.

Does anyone know how to get around this? I'd really like to pass on any referral bonus to a driver.. I'll be applying to at least 4 companies.
