Ok I have read, and read and read some more here. If you were out to buy a new CB Radio what would you buy and where would you buy it from?? I read a lot about Cobra on here, but a lot of different models to pick from too.
Can you folks recommend one and maybe share why you would buy it too?
Thank you

Personally I would get that chrome cobra 29 that sparkys cb has putting out 100 watts. Then again I'm more a fan of the stealth type. 200 might be more than you want to spend though.

Most CB's put out 4Watts, so don't go all out on the radio. Your antenna is what makes the difference.

I've got a solid Cobra 29 with a Wilson Firestick that does a fine job for me. Sure, I get stepped on alot by bigger radios, but hell I don't want to hear 3/4 of the crap on the radio anyway! My radio lets me stay in contact with the guard shack at shippers/recievers, and find out what the traffic holdup on my front door is. Plus, it's handy for directions and weather. Radio cost me around $60 on sale, I can't remember what the antennae cost but it wasn't that much. Firesticks aren't good antennaes. But they are cheap, so if it gets busted, I ain't out much.
Sarge Thanks this. -
I dont keep my radio on very much on. The best time to have it on is during jams though. Every once in a while there is a real jokester. But most of the day driving there isn't anything on the radio, and if people start talking, I really dont want to listen to them anyway.
A Cobra is a decent radio. They're reasonably priced, have a good quality reputation. -
I have a Uniden PC78LTW in my Pickup. Its a nice radio. It has the
NOAA weather alert, which has come in handy lately with all the
severe weather. Also has the SWR meter function. -
I see a lot of different Cobra 29 models out there, and even one for Blue Tooth too. Do you folks have a preference on what Cobra 29??
Also, do people really need to add the power boost to the CB??
Sorry for all thew questions, but I would like to buy one, and get what I need here, and not make the wrong choice.
Thank you all for your input. -
Heres a basic set I recommend, cobra 29, rk56 mic, and a pair of Francis Antennas. These antennas DON'T have to be match/tune and there excellent and cheap in price.
Logan76 Thanks this. -
I agree with dave, You can get an astatic mic a little cheaper but I personally prefer my old roadking. I like the white francis antennas myself. If you want to dish out some cash, I would get a General Lee, RK56, Wilson 2k, good coax. Either way I would have a tech check your SWR, those cobra meters have been known to be faulty and ground straps help also.
