I have just shy of 4 years o.t.r exp. clean dac and no criminal record.
Left the road to be a father to my son, and drove class b concrete trucks until the bottom dropped out of the economy and took construction with it.

Was told by every carrier I contacted that I would have to go to school and get a refresher. Did that. Four weeks out of school and now it seems as though I need a time machine(to erase my unemployment term) as well to get me back in the seat. I'm looking for leads to carriers that will work with you on this. Would also like to avoid the driver grinder carriers who will take anyone that can make four rite turns without hitting something. As I would like to run for a company that I can keep my cb on.

I'm not very good at this forum thing as I mostly read posts. For the past week or so I been bouncing all over this and some others looking for leads. Have an app in with Prime and the the dizzy putz at the school said she placed someone with them that was UI for two years. Think from what I've read on this forum its bs but we'll see. Clocks ticking on my refresher and I know it has a short shelf life, so if anyone has any leads, paths or direction they could point me in, my family and I would be grateful for any help. As well I'm sure as any others that may be on the same quest.
Thank you for your time and consideration.

FFE has academy training no upfront expenses, has you sign a contract, dormitory style housing and for unemployment you can either submit unemployment check stubs or have someone write a statement on your behalf for the time you were out. Call them at 800 569 9232 maybe this will help you..

Watkins Sheperd has a terminal near you in Sayerville NJ and I've been told they are a good Co to start with. You're right to stay away from the bigger cos.they can ruin you.Check out the threads by American Trucker He has a lot of info on W.S.

Your main issue is that you need to prove that you were doing the dad thing. Some carriers/insurance companies will accept tax records or even personal statements from knowledgable people that you were indeed a stay at home dad, and not working someplace that you aren't reporting. It is a legal requirement for them to have your work history documented. Be very upfront with your potential employers to see if they can work with you.

I had to provide proof that even though I was unemployed I was still collecting income (the unemployment checks).

Thanks for those leads folks, gonna check into them.
As far as the dad thing, I was by no means a stay at home dad. I was on average working 16 hour days from the day I started driving concrete trucks.
When things were good we were running so strong there were weeks we had to cut orders cause we couldn't stay in enough cement powder for the mixes.
But when the economy crashed I was laid off.

Before I left otr for class b I asked about a dozen drivers if they thought there would be a problem if I should ever decide to return, and no body seemed to see any reason there should be. Most saying it's like riding a bike you don't forget how to do it. May wobble a little at first but it comes rite back. Somewhere between then and now or whenever it came to be the insurance nazies decided you had to have 1 year verifiable within the past 3 years.
