I use the one that I have the link to for work. I have left a lot of rubber on roads with it. It will take anything you can throw at it and pull it to a stop.

 

The roads in South Africa (the country) are mostly good.
Once you leave the country there are good , bad and roads from hell.
The route I was talking about is to and from the D R Congo and South Africa.
Hauling mining consumables in and copper/cobalt back.
You start on 8 lane highway in SA and deliver and collect on roads where the gear lineages snap because of chassis twisting at times.
There is demand for about another 500 to 1000 trucks on this route.
It is a terrible place for drivers and that has nothing to do with the roads.

There are no imports allowed in South Africa (the Country) as they manufacture and assemble trucks here. There are thousands 2nd hand US and EU imported trucks from just across the border that drop off and collect here though.

telma is good for load speeds where hyraulic retarder is not so strong

but with telma you need to be careful it can cause fire , when you use it you must not stop when you deactivate it you need to drive some more time to cool it , also it is heavy , stinks if it is overheated , worse fuel economy ( not drastically but it still is) also it use lot of power from batterys and it actually eat them

but it have its benefits

anyway combining strong hydraulic retarder engine breaks telma or two telma and disc brakes make your truck as serious breaking machine for even largest hills in spain there is lot of them

in spain you can except that your truck need to be capable for steep downhill with average of 8-10% and hills over 9000feet and all this with hot climate

tenerife islands are even more problematic since they are pretty near equator and they are pretty steep
