This is a two part update. If you updated to the latest version then you will see the option. But, the main part for this to work will be in the Map update due out soon.

    Thanks,
    Mark

I see the Tell Rand's daily. A lot of drivers post good information or want information back. The form does not have a spot for E-Mails. So, in the context of the Tell Rand if you wish an answer back, insert your E-Mail.

I see posts that no one responds to your Tell Rand, but hard to do when they have no idea who send it in.

Hover Dam - Rand is aware of the new bypass - It has to be updated in the NavTeq Map database first.

VA - new speed limit. Rand is aware and with all speed limits they are part of the Map Database.

Sometimes if you pick a location from History - it might place the location on the other side of the road than what it is on.

House numbers. Mapping databases take the Lat/Long from the start/stop of each road. Then basically subdivide the road into equal parts. So, you may be a little off in exact locations.

Stolen TND's. The TND is a receiver only. Rand cannot track your TND if stolen. Keep track of your serial number also for insurance purposes.

If you see the Message that your Maps are over a year old, then this is just a message. It is not an error message and your TND will not stop working. Just a friendly reminder.

The "log" miles roll over at midnight of your yard time. So in the preferences you select Central, then at midnight Central the "log" miles will start a new day. You can set your yard time to whatever time zone you wish. But, DOT requires you to log in your Yard time.

    Updates - T5C, T5E, T7C, and the T7E will be able to update 6/15.

    Thanks,
    mark

I just wanted to let you know that I encounter the same POI problem that MustangMark83 has. I always get POI's on "My Route" that are either 10 miles in the other direction or off the beaten path. Just wanted you to know it isn't an isolated issue.

i can second that. Also what commonly happens is lets say on a 500mi trip the travel centers/rest stops shown using the my route option only show a few pages up to a certain mileage.

For example it may only show the locations up to 200miles and not all of the 500 miles.

I have to wait until i'm further into the 500mi trip to get more locations.

Also the distance shown on the locations is typically less than actual time/distance required.

So I mailed my 700 into Rand for a USB port fix. They sent me a refurbished model instead of just fixing my GPS. This would've been alright except I lost my screen protector, all of my personal settings, hundreds of addresses, all of my notes for specific rest stops/truck stops, my ratings and on top of that this GPS has a sound issue among other software issues.

I emailed customer support and still no response after over a week of waiting. I called in and they explained they could only help if I were in front of the PC where I backed up the original files. Problem is they only support M-F. Most OTR truckers cannot get to their home PC for weeks on end let alone during the week. How are we supposed to call into Rand during their available hrs to solve an issue caused by their lack of quality software.

If I had to do it again I would pick another brand that offers a truckers GPS. This sucks!

You have my E-Mail here. The 700 would be a replacement since the taking apart of the 700 is difficult to get to the USB port.

When you get home do a restore first (not full) and this will bring back user information from your last update.

Whenevery you send a TND in for repair/replacement always do a backup (not full) off the TND Dock then once the new/refurb unit is back, do a Restore (not full).

Did you tell Customer support that your 2nd unit has a sound issue?

    Thanks,
    Mark

The search limits out to a set limit of miles. If you had a 3000 mile trip the TND would be chugging for awhile to bring back all POI's you selected on your route.

If you know where you are looking for, then try searching for by "city" and putting in the city and doing a search.

    Thanks,
    mark
