Gee I always thought the price of fuel affected the price of products
Not the load being late. And as elogs and flatbedding, well if you run
Out of hours chaining & tarping while on elogs then you'd be out when using
    Paper logs too!

Trucks which are actually safe (without Quallcom and elogs) are not as likely to speed and be in a hurry.

I was running through a work zone in OH last summer on the turnpike, already doing 60/55, and had one of those "safe" elogs trucks practically kissing my back bumper. Not going to name names but their company color happens to be maroon and they happen to be HQ's out of Black River Falls, WI.

I asked him what his problem was and the response was cursing, swearing, insults, and "why the &^%$ my chicken sheet ^&* was going so #### slow.

I apologized that 5 over the limit wasn't fast enough for him, and was sure to let him know what a toolbox he was.

So would you rather get into bed with the crook lawyers and insurance companies, have hyperinflation with every truck on elogs? or leave things the way they are now?

Just like government run health care, the system is set up to fail from the get go so that even more ridiculous money pit regulations can be implemented.

I will mention the company, Millis, and I'll bet the jerkwater was in a T2. If it's the same fool, it surprises me he's still alive. Same thing across Ohio. I was in the left lane, there was a bear on the shoulder, I looked in the right mirror and here he comes out from behind me, tailgating of course, sees the bear and jerks the truck right back in behind me. All I said was, "Hey Millis, ya think ya could wait until I get past the hazard?" I'm met with all the intelligent replies, and a couple other drivers voiced their opinion as well. Sounds like he hasn't learned if it's the same fool.

Beating a dead horse, but here it is.
There is very little pride in the industry anymore. I used to complain about the four wheelers, but the trucks are just as bad now. Remember when everyone took pride in doing a good job and looking professional? A long time O/O (who very recently passed away) made driving a truck look like art.He took his time,no matter how tough or easy the spot or situation was. He made it look easy. He was an idol to many local wannbee's, myself included. The man loved trucks and was always willing to take a few minutes to talk trucks, tell "war stories" and share info. I hope someday i get to be as good as this gentleman was. John, RIP.

The price of fuel is just one aspect of this business. Sorry to have to admit this but it's a fact in a truckers life, you cheat on your hours in the log book. If I'm stuck in a place for 4 hours, I'm only going to log an hour of On Duty Not Driving. This doesn't affect my sleep or awareness or put anybody in danger. Half of the time, I'll nap out for an hour or so but according to DOT, that doesn't count and on an e-log...you're screwed.
If they accepted any input from the drivers themselves, instead of the ATA, Teamsters and the Mega Carriers, the logs would be more realistic and driver friendly.
Mark my words, if and when e-logs are mandatory, it's going to cause rates to skyrocket with the driver coming out on the short end (as usual). Inflation will rear it's ugly head and people will be posting threads asking "What in the hell happened?"

    BigJohn54 Thanks this.

Sorry but e-logs isn't the fault for late freight, its bad planning. We all know we can only do so much when it comes to shippers/recievers, that is a lot of the time where the problem is.

Hyperbole like that only works when your audience is ignorant of the subject.

:biggrin_2559: Starts out as a posting about 2 accidents in a TS parking lot , ends up that ELOGS will be the ECONOMIC downfall of the American Economy and some guy that drives for MILLIS is the North End of a Southbound Donkey :biggrin_2559:
