There are so many high tech options available today it's mind boggling.
I personally will stick to old school trip planning. It's really not that big of a deal to look at some maps and jot a few notes as to where you need to turn that truck.

I have seen more problems generated by gps and some really bad wrecks as well because people will mindlessly do what that little POS told them to. I have never had destination I couldn't reach with a map and maybe a shout or two on the radio. That screen size in it's self is insane, and when the sun decides to let a really good epic ripper go (solar flare) or the weather is so bad you can't get a signal.

If you don't have a good atlas and the skills to go with it. Well that's not something I would want to be explaining to my DM. Just sayin. Now final leg and little bitty streets I'm all for WIFI+laptop+mapquest or whatever your preference, but I would do that in advance and save it somewhere in the event I may not get a signal when I needed it.

I personally just don't care for an E-pilot.

$25 a load, or per stop?...If it's per stop, I'm owed a lot of money!!!!

Looks like they have some updating to do!

    Hello W/S pilots,
I may be going to Conover for the 10 day, nothing set in stone yet.
Gained a great deal of insight from going thru this thread and want to thank all for the input.

I read on one post about penske trucks being used for the most part for the east coast furniture lanes, and if you were running those lanes you had some what of a choice.(believe it was brown or white) If so what is the average age of the tractors? Is it one setup or do they have different models etc. that they use? Next does penske do the service on these units or does W/S turn wrenches as well when needed? I don't want to come off sounding selective, I'm just trying to get some ideal of the equipment I may be running.
Also read that these trucks stay east of the Mississippi, that's a pretty good fit for me as I was otr years ago and there are some states beyond that I just don't miss. Not as bad as my home state, but I'm stuck with this one.

Have several other questions but last for this post is... having never used a Qualcomm system before can someone tell me what type of system they use? like model, make, version or whatever info I would need to look it up and get a better understanding of how it works. Pre-thanks for any feedback you send my way.
You all sound like a great group of folks to work with, hope I can make the grade and join you.

Mine is an 06 Columbia. 60 series Detroit, eaton 10 speed. Every one I've seen is spec'ed like this. Most are Columbia's but there are a few centurys too. Some have aluminum wheels some steel. 452***(brown and 5 white) grey leather seats others have blue cloth from what I've seen. 452's have power windows on both sides, think others only passenger side. Penske does all the work on the truck. If it is going to take more than 2 hours they are supose to offer a loaner.

So for the most part since Penske is responsible for the service on the truck, it would be safe to assume they are pretty sound trucks.
I don't concern myself with the looks or comforts, although it's nice to run in a preeety truck that is comfy too. I get more comfort knowing the truck works well.
Next ?? how is there response time when you have trouble? and does their doing the service ever present any problems with your schedule's? and last when you say all work, does that include lube? or can that be done anywhere when needed?
