I remember reading that at first I'd be assigned a POS truck. Well, it's true. I was assigned truck #25684. An 07 Freightliner with 601,000 miles on it. I Looked the truck over and found a few things wrong and put it into the shop for repairs. This was Friday. I'd just finished training and was going to take some home time and thought the truck would be ready to go by Monday.
Well, the techs found a lot of things wrong. This is good because I'm not stranded out on the road someplace. But, it's also bad because I really need to work and make some money to feed my wife and child as well as pay the bills. We are getting hungry.

Seems the truck I was assigned has "major transmission electrical issues" and I'm going to have to be assigned another truck. Fingers crossed that this truck will be able to actually haul freight.
I wonder if I could get lay over pay?nckid Thanks this. -
You should get "Breakdown Pay" plus a hotel room, and you have no more than 72 hours to ask for it on the Qualcomm. If they don't respond to that (and I don't think they will) call Road Rescue for the money. If you work it right get the pay with 24 hour intervals, max it out.
-
Well, I'm way past a 72 hour deadline and I was on hometown when all this started. So, I had no need for a motel.
Yesterday my DM said they should have a truck for me by noon. Now it's Saturday and I likely won't get a truck until at least Monday. I'll call in a couple of hours and see what can be done, but I'm not hopeful about the outlook. -
Well if you're on hometime, no breakdown pay for you...
And call in before noon on saturday to talk with a "real" dispatcher. -
I just got of the phone with them. I was told there were no notes about another truck for me and that I'd have to wait until Monday.
I was supposed to be on the road last Monday, so home time has been a week longer than I'd planned. I just want to do the job and have some income. I'm getting hungry. -
They assigned me to truck number 25838 yesterday evening. This morning I'm driving over to Irving for a first look at it. Hopefully it'll be in better shape than the last one and I can get on the road and start making a living.

This truck drives ok. There may be a problem with the alignment, but I'm not going to say anything for a while. Need to work and make some money.
This truck has an idle optimizer and shuts down after a few mins. When I sleep will it start up and keep the temp comfortable or is there something I have to do? -
The opti-idle only works if you turn it on...
On the top right corner there is a mode button
push it and the temp will light up
make sure what you want is A/C or heat is lit...
On left side are arrows up/down you set the the temp you want
You can adjust the range of temp 4 or 7 or 10 degrees, that is done by the mode button
i have never figured out the lock buttons..
The truck will turn on and off all the time to adjust the temp
once it hits the right number it will turn off, when it hits the range you set it will come back on...
It took me two weeks to sleep thru all that, the first time it shut off I thought someone hit my truck.
The truck will not idle after about seven minutes without the opti-idle on -
I am parked tonite in the Irving yard if you haven't left yet
