Thanks for all the info and input on this but I beleave I am going to wait and see what I go with. If i go with someone that requires it then I will get it no prob but if I dont need it then Im not going to worry about it. but I beleave I am going to get my tank jsut in case I want to haul milk or something. Me my self I dont want to haul anything that will blow up or eat the trailer up not my kind of game. thanks again.

I got it but was told that I would need atleast 1yr exp. before anyone would let me pull hazmat. If you got the extra cash go for it!

I pulled hazmat while with my trainer and my first alone within three months of getting my company truck.

I'd hold off until you find a company that requires it. The background check will cost you around $150 plus the test fees and adding on your license is more than any endorsement. I've had it my whole career and used it maybe 6 times. And half of them were at a LTL company.

It's not like you sit. There's plenty of other loads. The other drivers at my LTL terminal didn't have hazmat or doubles and triples. Guess who got all them loads. Did it benefit me any? No!

I agree with you CC,as I have never used my haz-mat,BUT,(you knew that was comin)it might save my ###,if I do decide to haul crude in either ND or TX..(my first choice) Oh yeah,I have my tanker too, never used it,but its there.

Everyone needs it because we all have to haul contaminated dispatcher brains. In other words, running empty.

I would say yes. Sometimes I haul more than a 1001lbs of non-flammable gasses (CO2) in tanks and I am required to have it. You having your hazmat could mean the difference between getting the job and not getting it.

Wait until you need it, and let the company pay for it !!!!

Unless you're not in a cash crunch right now.........
