I'm not talking about after it was stolen, I'm talking about before.... between satellites and communication, I'm quite sure this driver told his DM where the thing was... especially if he does it all the time.

From an insiders perspective nobody cares where you park when you are on your home time until something bad happens. For the most part once you're home you are off the radar.

Well whether it was right, wrong or indifferent, there sure is a lesson to be learned here. If you're under load, that load is your responsibility. No matter what you may be told verbally by your dispatcher, the company will likely hold you responsible for anything that happens to it.

Is it right? Well, we could argue that for hours. In fact I think we have been, (although I have done no more than read the thread up to now.) But it is the way it is.

If you are not lucky enough to live somewhere where you can secure your truck, then you are taking quite a chance to just leave it parked on a lot somewhere. Even with permission from the lot's owner, and your dispatcher.

Ever thought about being on a 34 hour reset, and being REALLY obnoxious...? Disconnect from your trailer, hook up to a dropped trailer, and go park it at Walmart or something. Grab another one, leave it on the side of the road...

Take another, park it in the library parking lot...

    Meltom Thanks this.

    well said.

If the driver had his truck and trailer stolen at gunpoint USX would find a way to blame the driver. This was a no brainier for them.

When I worked there they chewed me out for taking a load to the receiver before del time in Reno because of their policy of no stopping within 50miles of a casino. They actually wanted me to find somewhere on 395 in CA to park and then drive it in right before the del time.

The suggestion of finding a company with a terminal close to the house was a great one.

If you know anything about USX you know they will tell you anything to get you off their screen, so critical thinking is needed when dealing with them at all times.
