Ridiculous. Idling only matters in areas that are in valleys, like Southern California. Smog can't escape the valleys and gets trapped. Makes no sense to have anti-smog laws in wide open places. But even in SoCal, idling trucks are no more than 1% of the machines burning fuel at any given time. Most of the pollution comes from cars stirring up the dust on the ground, when are they going to outlaw that?

Oh and another thing, when diesels had no pollution control devices on them, the soot particles were huge and fell to the ground quickly, now in an attempt to "fight pollution" and "protect peoples health" the soot particles are microscopic and get lodged in and plug up peoples lungs like never before when the soot was big and heavy and fell to the ground instead of hanging in the air for hours like a helium balloon.

This one actually doesn't seem unreasonable:

It's a joke. As if idling is unsafe. Note how they included an "idle free zone" near schools. Its for the children....(money)

Our lofty leaders and their sychophants crack down on idling trucks and pat themselves on the back for a job well done fighting those nasty scary trucks that intimidate them in their Priuses.

As they fight so hard to "clean up" everything in America that could possibly be a source of emissions into the atmosphere to "save the planet" this is happening on the other side of the globe:

This is the place that makes all the stuff that used to be made in America. It's like sweeping all your dirt under the rug and then acting as if you have actually gotten rid of the dirt, when infact you have just moved it where you cant see it, but it is still there.

Yet 100 soccer moms will sit in their Suburbans with the AC on texting, waiting to pick up the little children to carry them home so they don't have to ride the dreaded school bus EVERYDAY.Yeah, no pollution there........

Apparently you don't know that more than 75% of Oregon's population is located in the Willamette Valley? Smog in the valley will often exceed that of LA during the summer months due to the temperature inversion overhead that holds the pollutants close to the ground.

Just one more no idle zone...

Whats so funny about this law.

Trucks that are CARB compliant actually produce cleaner air than what it takes in through the filter!

They should MAKE CARB compliant trucks idle to clean the air!
