Central Refrigerated Truck Stop

I was told by my brother a trucker for a few decades that I they can't go back past 10 years on a driving record because it doesn't show up to the insurance companies. Is this true? I have had 3 DUI'S in my past; but that has been 16 years ago and so far when I tell any trucking company this, they say to me, Sorry, you can't have more then 2 in a lifetime. Those DUI'S were a long time ago and since than I don't drink and drive. I want to become a trucker. I been trying to become one since 2001 and have had no luck. Does anyone know of any trucking companies that won't lord my past over my head so I can become a long haul trucker? I made many mistakes many years ago and I sure wish I could get a break for once. I grew up s lot from over 16 years ago.

 

o.k. lets put the shoe on the other foot what has central done to raincatcher? they sure as hell have not rewarded her for over idle. and she is not the only one central has took from there have been many others. me for example they are trying to collect money that only a o/o would owe. i for one am gonna be comfortable in my office which that truck is not only your office but your home. are the guys in the central war room charged to be in the a/c all day no they are not. do they go home to a nice a/c and heated home every day yes they do. dso why should you be any different. you gotta do what you gotta do to get comfertable rest even if its at their expense. what im trying to say is you gotta look after # 1 cause they are not looking after you . its all about their bottom line and if the driver has to suffer so be it . you gotta look at it this way its their fuel they bought it for their equipment it is just put to a use in THEIR EQUIPMENT for a different purpose. if there's anybody that doesn't see the logic in it then all i can say is freeze and sweat your butt off delevering THEIR freight.

Yep, they sent me home because an injured person of any sort cannot be on a central truck. Despite the fact we have seen people in and out of trucks at the terminal with casts on, and have had to save a driver who was impounded, the rules could not be broken at all. I sat next to a California Highway Patrol officer the whole way from Cali to Atlanta who said what we thought, they did me more harm forcing me to fly. Days are short. My head is getting used to a non-pressurized cabin, so right now it hurts, but I am doing much better.

 

I can see both sides of this but if you are ever caught you will lose your job and your DAC report will reflect 'theft' and you will not work for another company for a long, long time. It is your choice and your conscience. There are risks and rewards to every situation. To me the risk is not worth the reward on this one. I am not judging your decision, I am only pointing out something you may have missed in your analysis of risk/reward.

 

Bug away.. Just a note to those of you that are on the fence about Central. I am lease/operator and did a favor for the company about a week back. they took 4 sweet loads from me and had me drive 250 deadhead miles to pick up a 44,000 pound load of onions. I was really pissed especially since I didn't have enough hours to run the load because I am working on recap hours, but kept my big mouth closed (for a change). They ended up re-powering the load and then I got a load that I could run. They then gave me a 2,000 mile load, then another 1,700 mile load and then couldn't find me a load home to CA from WVC. I reminded my DM about the 250 mile deadhead that I did for them and told him I was "very disappointed" (all on the qualcomm). He was on the phone to me in 15 min and sent me a load to pickup an empty trailer in WVC and transport to Fontana, paid 650 mile deadhead. He could have told me to bobtail home on my own dime and fuel, but paid me to haul an empty. One good turn gets another in return, at least in this case.

 

After the last sentence that you typed, I don't think that you will have any problems. The paperwork and qualcomm is the headache. Driving is the easiest part. If there is anything we can help with, just ask. Once you get the qualcomm and trip planning down you wont have any trouble. I STILL get screwed up on time zones occasionally; usually after a long day and really tired.

 

The most important part of any OS&D claim is that they put "Seal Intact" on the bills. If you forget everything else, ALWAYS have that put on the bills and signed, even when it is a trailer drop. If that's not on the bills, either Central or their insurance company has to pay for damage or shortage. EVERYTHING is the drivers fault if that's not on the bills and signed for. I always put in the comment section every nite and morning when I do my mac9. Maybe that's a bit overboard, but if I remember twice per day, there is a better chance I will remember when I deliver the load.

 

That's a tough one. I would say to talk to a recruiter with an assumed name and ask if there will be a problem. I know that Central does a pretty decent background check, but now that I think of it, I had a DUI 25 years ago and they never found that one. I actually forgot to put it on the form. I wish you luck, the things we do in our past will sometimes come back to haunt us.
