Attention all company drivers!!!

Well,I am new to this industry myself. Only been driving 14 months. But what I do know,without any doubt,is this.......you ready???? They do not care about us. Bottom line. I love this job,really. Love the feel and thrills of it,and the chills too. But I hate the way dispatch and all the rest treat drivers like crap. And I know that I am not alone. I am starting new job Monday,and I hope its at least good...

 

You've read a whole 11 pages in this section and now you want a list of bad Big truck truckin' companies because you're a new guy lookin' for a company to start workin' for?

With the abundant background information you've provided in your post it should be easy for us to find you a perfect fit with a great workin' environment. Do you have a particular color Big truck in mind?
How soon would you like to start drivin' a Big truck?

I'm thinkin' you need to talk with a few recruiters from various Big truck truckin' companies ASAP. They'll tell you what you wanna hear and even make promises. Chances are good that whichever truckin' company recruiters you talk to, you'll be informed that they're one of the best trainin' companies and therefor your best choice. No need to do your own readin' for research. They'll be glad to relieve you of that chore.

Now, there's a chance that a recruiter might not have your best interest in mind. But only those who've done their own research, which includes askin' questions, here and elsewhere, that will arise as a result of personal research and study, will be able to recognize the bovine excrement bein' sold as an air freshener. The more one puts into research, the more they'll get out of the Big truck truckin' industry. Those who do exhaustive research are several steps ahead of those who didn't do their homework. If you decide to do your own research, you'll read many posts written by those who jumped right into the deep end with eyes wide shut, --- hit bottom, --- and want to know how to swim to the top when there's no water, --- although their recruiter was sure there'd be plenty.

Some recruiters have never set foot in a Big truck.
Why should they? They're salesmen.
And some could sell porn to a nun.

Your request for a list of bad truckin' companies already exists here. There's also a list of good truckin' companies. Funny thing though, you'll find the same truckin' companies on both lists. Many of those negative posters didn't bother with research and weren't prepared for reality.
Others might complain about somethin' that would be a non-issue for certain drivers. YoU have to know what you want from a truckin' company, --- and what you'll accept. You'll have decisions to make, and those decisions will become the foundation on which you'll build your future, the height of which depends on how well that foundation will support growth.

How badly do you actually want to drive a Big truck?
Right now, this moment, what do you think Big truck truckin' involves?
Are you aware that Big truck truck drivin' is said to be a "lifestyle" and not just a job?
Also, "Solitary confinement -- with a view"?
How 'bout, "It's a love-hate relationship", and "once it gets into your blood, it's impossible to get it out"?

Why do you want to drive a Big truck?
Is your desire a result of a dream, or reality?
Can you handle bein' away from home for extended periods?
Are you prepared to miss special family events?
If you do get into the truckin' industry, where do you see yourself in five years? Ten years?
And most importantly, if there are children involved, where will they see daddy during that time?
If a truckin' company keeps a driver out for two weeks, then two days off, that's four days a month at home with the kids. Trust me, the first day is reserved for resting, and the second day is gettin' prepared to leave again, --- and miss watchin' the kids grow up.

For those who are with wife, consider that the harder job is keepin' the home fires burnin' while hubby is out drivin' a Big truck. Better be positive that she's aware of what y'all are plannin' on gettin' into. Problems at home when you're 2,000 miles away creates stress for both, and stress is definitely detrimental, --- physically and mentally. Stress can burn a driver out in short order, or worse.

If you're genuinely interested in Big truck truck drivin', you've come to the right place. There are many here ready and able to answer most questions, but some questions you'll have to answer yourself. Don't let anyone else make any decisions for you. Analyze each reply to determine if it applies to you in the same way as those who reply. There are NO one size fits all truckin' companies. And NO two drivers are exactly alike in their expectations and/or requirements. You can follow the herd into and out of a bottom feeder starter training company, or aim higher and blaze your own trail, if you're capable.

I recommend spendin' at least 24 hours readin' the various threads of interest that pertain to your situation.
No, I don't mean all at once. Break it into segments of several undisturbed hours at a time. I suggest preparin' a snack before you begin so you won't have to get up later to fix one.
If you find that you have to force yourself to make time to read and research, that's not a good sign.

On the other hand, if the more you read, the more you want to read, ...... well, ...... you just might make it.

Sorry, I thought this was the only discussion on bad companies. Then I went up one level and saw the whole list. This is a huge web site! I have been reading stuff here for about a week. I'm getting a lot of good information, but not exactly what I'm looking for. I've been calling trucking schools and companies and want ads. I have a friend who is a truck driver too and he's been telling me a lot. I have more questions but they are not for this discussion area. Thanks for your reply.

I'm glad I caught it before it disappeared, --- it was a good one.
Many people post similarly, and many read the question(s) and answer(s). Generally speakin', the dumbest question(s) are those not asked. When you ask a question there's no tellin' how many readers/posters benefited from the replies.

But there's a lot to read and posts get buried, so I like to bring it up every now and then, --- when I find a good post to do that. Yours was, I did, and I thank you for not readin' it the wrong way.

BAD COMPANYS? Lets see... There is JB Hunt, Swift, CR England, Jones Bros. then PFT and Systems TWT. Davis outa Missoula is building a bad rap and gee must I go on? Maybe we shoulda went to pilot school to work for United or American Airlines.
