I read there is some sort of thing called CSA or something where companies you work for will report to it to keep record of your driving with them.

My question is that if I go through a company to get my CDL. If once i get my CDL and decide not to work for them through the remainder of the contract or maybe even decide to quit after getting the CDL can that make your CSA record look bad?

I understand I will owe the company for paying to get my CDL and I would still pay them back for it.

any comments would be much appreciated.

What your referring to is the DAC. From what I understand yes they can annotate that on your DAC and make it difficult to get a job in the future.

Ive had 2 companies report I quit. 1 I gave a 2 wk notice and was release 2 days later the other I was fired. Every company Ive talked to said "fired" throws up red flags but to not hop around which is common sense. If you got your cdl through a company than yes idk of any way to avoid not paying it back.

While there are some who will disagree with me, my experience has been the only thing any company placed on my DAC was that I had worked there. If you leave under bad circumstances, your DAC may suffer.

CSA is a measure of how well you have weathered inspections, what tickets you have in a CMV and crashes you have been involved in in a CMV. In other words, it is contact with DOT officers that will affect your CSA. However, CSA can affect your employment prospects, so do what you can to keep it clean.

Did mean to imply you were tryin to skip out but i know a few ppl that have tried. IDK if it went on their dac but companies they tried to get on with knew. OTR you have to really soul search, but having your cdl isnt a bad idea but at the same time Ive tried before to get a job class b dump truck and because ive never drove one my otr time dont mean snot. Either way good luck.

Correct. Blew my mind! All my life all I known was a cdl would be an almost promise of a job. Yeah you gotta pay your dues but worst come to worst you could haul dirt or garbage. Then last yr a became unemployed and gave the theory a shot. And was shot down faster than a 1 winged duck opening day. Everyone looked at I could handle 18 wheels but id never got behind 10. Or a dump bed. Get it flat throw the pto and wow youre empty by shorted process.

Just curious did they tell you that was the reason you was turned down? Wondering if they confirmed it.

Maybe I should just pratice driving my dads dump truck and just go take the CDL test with the dump truck ha. Write down for job history saying I hualed metal scraps for my dads machine shop.

    Also really appreicate the responces
