Well the up date is - my daughter is at the hospital being induced - my husband is in CO waiting for his 10 to be up to start heading to ID - talked to our DM and she is 'working on' getting him a 'repower' so that he can drop in SLC and head west... needless to say - that better work out - otherwise he just might dead head from ID to CA and we would be seriously ticked off!! Why they had him go from UT to CO in the first place is beyond me - should have just had him finish that last load (which delivered in SLC) and get him one west... grrr! :biggrin_25510:

I hate to break the news to ya but your daughter having a baby doesn't mean anything to central. all they care about is moving freight, your homelife family, and anything else thats important to you is way down on their list its just the way it is in the trucking business. anyway since ya'll are l/o's why didn't he just decline the load to Co? Welcome to the wonderful world of otr truckin'.

To 'Central' true - to our DM I think she did try her best... I was there, Gary got there the next day - with a little help from me - LOL! He was pushing his 70hrs, so I got a ride with a good friend and he drove me to BFE NV and Gary and I swapped out - he rode back with our friend and I brought the truck into Sac... he made it about 4-5 hours faster than I did - then we teamed back up to get the load delivered in Tracy by 0200 this morning... now we are doing a 48-72 hour reset - LOL!! We knew what we were getting into re: loads and home time... still doesn't mean we don't get frustrated with it though :biggrin_25523:

You are absolutely right. Businesses, any business, is all about relationships. Focus on building good relationships and life just gets better (and easier)

I am at least a few months away from being able to join all of you on the road, if it happens at all. Gotta take care of our house first... But you all sound like you either have driven a big truck and/or pulled a trailer before. I have never driven a manual and have so little experience with a trailer that you can't really count it. Hopefully I can learn it in 3 weeks of school. Studying the cdl book now, I would like to just go get my permit at dmv on my own, kind of to boost my spirits to make myself know I can do it before I jump in head first. I can't wait to be with my hubby though... I hope you guys are able to spend lots of time with that baby before you hit the road. I'm glad they were able to get you both back and in a timely manner at that... :)

Awesome!! That is the same path I did - Gary started and I stayed to get the house/daughter set up. It was a bit scary doing it 'on my own', but it was cool 'doing it on my own' too :D

Yeah - we are totally enjoying our 'home' time with the kids and our Grand. Getting some much needed paperwork done and truck 'stuff' done. I'll see if I can post a picture soon :yes2557:
