Well I WAS looking forward to starting with crete as soon as I get done moving. I had told them they had to wait while I move from WI to TX. The house I am buying in TX ran into some issues at the bank so I need to be around to take care of them. Well the recruiter calld me back today. Marideth or something was her name. She got kinda snipy with me about needing a date for me to start I told her the best thing I could tell her is that as soon as my closing is setup I could come to do the orientation and get my truck, my best guess was withing two weeks. Still she wanted a date but I told her that was all I was going give her.
I then proceded to verify that I was being hired for the mid south regional fleet. which I applied for. I had to ask this question 3 times before she stopped dancing around and told me no, I was being hired for the national fleet. SHe told me they didn't have any openings in the southern fleet. I told her that was unacceptable to me and I couldn't do it. After hanging up I checked the website again and they still list openings in the mid south fleet.
SO the only thing I can surmise is that they are baiting people with regional employment and pushing them into the national fleet if they aren't smart enough to check on it, r desperate enough to not care. I am neither. I have many ob offers, I thought I liked Crete but I am no longer sure of that.

That is typical JB Hunt behavior. I hope Crete is not sinking to their level.

I had a job set up with crete for the interim between moving and when I can get a truck up and runing. I had it set up because my bank requires me to be working to give me the new mortgage obviously...lol

oddly enough, i never heard back from landstar now that I think of it. I need to get back ahold of them. It has been totally crazy this past two weeks with selling my house and getting my family moved to TX.

Crete kinda gave me the shaft too. Before I went into CDL school I applied with them. I put the name of the school on the online application. A few days later a lady gives me a call to go over the application. She asked what school are you attending, I need to make sure it is approved. I told her what school I was going to, she said fine. I too applied for regional. She then called a few days into my training to update my application. At this time she said something completely different. She started telling me about National Fleet, I caught it and asked her, "Do I have to go to National Fleet before I go to Regional Fleet?" She paused and then got on the defensive saying that Crete is a great company and I should consider myself fortunate to be considered. I agreed. I simply stated if I would have known Crete would like you to go National first , I would have selected National Fleet. I then agreed to switch my application to National Fleet. Well next day at school I happened to mention the situation to one of the instructors. He said he wasn't sure but he didn't think I would have to work National Fleet first. I then called the recruiter back and said I will stick to Regional Fleet. She paused and then said, "Your school is not an approved school with us". I told her that my school is an accredited school. She then said it must be PTDI certified, and yours is not, you no longer qualify to work with Crete, Have a nice day! "CLICK" I was like WTF! I then called to verify what she told me through another recruiter, it is true. If you are coming out of school, your school has to be PTDI certified. Okay, thats fine but I remember her asking me at least two or three times about my school. I was upset because I felt like I wasted a week not looking at other companies. She may have made an honest mistake, but a persons attitude sure goes a long way towards how you feel about a company. When I get the experience, Crete is not one of the companies I will be looking at.

Well I sent in my application on Saturday and got a phone call Monday from Crete. On of their recruiters wanted a more detailed work history and I Told them that I was not even attending a CDL school yet (even though I said I was on the app). He said that was ok and I explained that I just wanted to get my application started with them and on file. He sent me an email for me to reply to giving him a explanation of my deer accident and more of my work history. I asked him about Sage and he said they take people from there. Haven't heard back yet.

Just make sure the school you go to is PTDI certified so you wont get a last minute shaft like I did. LOL I am not sure if SAGE is or not. You might wanna give SAGE a call and ask them. I told my recruiter the name of my school and she said it was fine. Let me know the outcome because I was told told the school had to be PTDI certified if not I'm gonna be pissed!!!!

    Say what you will,
I applied with Crete, was accepted for Western Regional, I completed training and orientation last week am on home time now and my terminal manager has been totally honest in every way. I am very happy with my choice. Crete is a great company and has given me everything I expected. I plan on working Western Regional for about a year then going national after that. Right out of orientation, they called me up to issue my truck, and told me "Lets get you back out west." shook my hand and said "Good luck, look us up next time you are in Lincoln" I felt like I really belonged there.

My trainer did go to Sage so unless things have changed they do hire from Sage, I do know, to work for Crete you have to be up like the top 2% of the school average.

Sorry it did not work for you. Good luck in whatever you decide. hope you find a good home.

Yes the school does have to be PTDI

Thats good things are working out for you. I guess my real issue isnt with Crete because I really did want to work there. The attitude of the recruiter is what spoiled Crete in my mind. There's people that had bad experiences with EVERY company. I was just feeling pissed off. I mean she straight hung up on me. "CLICK" Anyhow good luck to you at Crete!

I do understand your frustraion. I hope it all works out for you. I am not sure why the recruiter hung up on you. That really seems wierd. You can always call the Lincoln terminal and ask to talk to someone there and I am sure they will give you answers.
