Just passed all the orientation stuff and now moved into a new truck at jb hunt. I got a new 2012 freghtliner cascadia w/22,000 miles on it and im already getting dispatched to sparks nv. Great load so far, good miles. After that I got hit a second time on the quam with another load coming back to los angeles in 3 days. so far so good....

Wow, I was pre planned on a load to go back to so-cal...it was cancelled, now iv been waiting for a load a whole day and a half...if I dont get something by tonight I know ill sit all weekend long...very dissapointing. My load made it on time, gave accurate eta, followed the route plan, ran it streight to sparks. Now, the waiting game.....time for me to call it while im ahead.

Hopefully you get a load, thats what i dont like about big companies. Planning is bad and they will let you just sit. If the trucks not moving its not making money and either are you. Good luck
Erick chapel Thanks this. -
Well its 23:00 pdt and j.b. hunt says there is nothing going out of Sparks NV. Thats bull. I was given a 7 mile load that was do in 3 hours, and its a live unload. I asked for extra stop pay. They said, "talk to you dispatcher on mon" ?? I cant believe it...in 6 days ive done 800 miles...

Jinxed yourself did ya?
DCS and intermodal are the two areas where JB is pretty decent.
OTR ,regional and leasing is where it sucks. Sorry I couldn't save you, I just saw your posts. -
Gears Thanks this. -
I hope it works out for you Erik.
JB has more dedicated accts than any other truckload carrier.
Some of them are great. A few of them kinda suck. And a lot of them are somewhere in between. Each dedicated account has its own set of rules. Pay rates, time off amounts and time off frequencies differ from one account to the next.
I've worked for two different DCS accounts and now I work intermodal.
You can do well but I'd try to be patient, tolerant and have some thick skin. Even in DCS you can have periods of waiting and as with anything involving young kids playing dispatcher, you can get the shaft because of their mistakes. Any time in trucking should've already taught you this maxim.
If you are on one DCS acct and have a good track record and haven't pissed off your FM too bad you can make transfers within the company if you decide there is greener grass somewhere else. As I alluded to, I have done this with success several times. It is better to do that than to start all over with a different company, on probation and starting over in the way of vacation and other benefits.
One other caveat. JB is not exactly the best in preparing you when it comes to acct specific training. Ask lots of questions and be patient it can take a little while until you learn the ins and outs of any new position in JBH. -
I run regional Intermodal and for me it only sucks because of norfolk southern I lose more money because of them than anything else i avg around 2k a week although i should be doing 2400
