Don't you just love that lovely "sunrise-to-sunset" restriction for over-dimensional loads? If I run into you guys (and gal) again, then you're going to have to show me some pics of your runs assuming you took pictures and everything. You did take pics, right?

By the way, you flatbed guys are like ghosts! I run into a lot of flatbed o/o's in Missoula, but not so much the company drivers. You're gonna have to let me in on the big secret! And don't lie by telling me that there's no secret, too. I'm still waiting on word from the training department, but hopefully I can join the ranks of you all in the fb division. Looking forward to throwing tarps and straps in minus-whatever ungodly weather that may occur in the winter!

Now I sit here in anticipation while looking forward to be completed with my current run. By the way, do you remember the children's story "The Little Engine that Could"? You know, it was a story about that super-weak engine that struggled to climb hills, and it had to psyche itself up by repeating the mantra "I think I can, I think I can, I think I can.......". I swear when that train passed away, Volvo purchase it's engine, remodified and retro-fitted it for current use, and installed it in their 600-something lineup.

The D-Series engines are terrible. Those engines have no power what-so-ever, and I find myself downshifting at least two gears up with light loads on the hills. I really miss my Cummins!

And now for my mantra on the Cummins: "Bring it back, bring it back, bring it back.....". You get the idea.

    Y'all drive safe out there!

Well she never wakes me up in the middle of the night. She knows how to hold it. :) sometimes I wish I didn't have her with me. I'd probably drive harder for one thing. But she makes me stop and smell the roses, and thats not so bad.

Ya.. Not looking forward to winter. And its coming fast! I haven't had her with me in winter before. I might have to let her out with a long leash while I sit in the truck.

Does Watkins Shepard allow dogs with company drivers in company trucks, or are you a o/o?

You can have a pet in your company truck after 90 days and a $500 pet charge.

Is the $500 a one time charge, or is it something paid annually?

Security deposit with possibly getting it back, or non-refundable?

Sorry, for all the questions, but thanks for all the answers.

Thank you sir...you, AT, and several others certainly represent W-S well. If the companies professionalism is even close to y'all...it's certainly the place for me.

I'm still narrowing down my list of :Van: companies to research now, and to look at when I get my CDL next June/July.

I have some contract obligations thru spring, as I run one of the largest RC Racing Tracks in the country and have several National racing events & obligations I want to adhere too.(I'm a man of my word)

At that point (April/May) I plan to attend Sage (Ivy Tech in Muncie Indiana) and move forward with my life long dream & desire to become a OTR truck driver.

Tops on my list thus far...
    1.Watkins-Shepard
2.Hall Brothers(Indiana Company with good benefits, but little info on them)
    3.JBS
    4.Gordon

My research will continue as I approach April, so thank you all for being patient with my questions over the next several months.
I did a quick drive by at the Indy Terminal and would like to stop by and chat with some of the fellas if I know when they are there.

My cell # is 765-624-9768 if anyone is rolling along I70 between Indy and the Ohio state line. I live about 36 miles east of the Indy terminal...about 2 miles from the Flying-J at exit123(Spiceland/New Castle). I'd love to meet some of you, talk trucking, and maybe grab a bite to eat over some good conversation.

Thank you all for any advise moving forward and be safe on the road.
