anyone know anything about them? recent info is best, I am planning on starting orientation for them monday morning all the way up in minnesota
only thing I have ever heard about them was from a mud engineer that I worked with on some jobs up in wyoming, he had driven for them in the past and was always telling me if the oilfield went bust again he would be crawling back into one of their trucks, which to me says alot, most mud engineers can't be counted on to do any real work and they all expect to be paid big money for nothing and they think they are gods

There have been mixed reviews on them on this site...

    Here is a bad one...
    http://www.thetruckersreport.com/tr...h/29003-stan-koch-thinking-of-going-back.html

Kentucky24 seemed to like them in this post. The thread is not about Koch, but he mentions that he used to drive for them and that they were fine. When you get your posting whiskers, you could PM him...
    http://www.thetruckersreport.com/tr...wal-mart-private-fleet-superior-carriers.html

I haven't driven for them, but I have had experience with them. They are a pretty big dog up here in Minnesota. Personally, I think that their dispatch could be a little more organized. I know a team that runs flatbed for them and they seem happy.

The Walmart thread listed above is mine
I will go indepth a little more about KOCH..

They were started by stan Koch which died about 3 or so years ago still a family owned company as his 2 sons and 1 daughter runs the company today
Boys are president/ CEO and vp
    Daughter runs payroll Dept

3 younger kids being groomed to take the helm in about 10 years or so

They also have a logistics company, leasing company, warehousing,

Koch family owns about 35 to 40 percent of bestbuy ... So they are very stable ... Financially

    Equipment
Volvo 670 with apu and shore power
    10 speed eaton
    Fleet spec

    Maintance
Good and have their own road side service through their leasing company KOCH National Lease like (Ryder ) in a sence
They keep the truck up at top shelf

    Dispatch
State of the art you will see the facility at main hub during oreintation
Orientation is at mait facility about 20 miles from hub...

Drivers lounges. Yes and showers at all drop yards and terminals

    Lease
Very fair a true purchase I have only seen it here at Koch u buy the truck through their lease company
I almost bought one before I got dumb and left for local job
Payments on a new 2009 volvo with carrier apu was
    573.23 per wk
Residual was 9800.00 roughly on a 4 yr note
    10.2 percent intrest fixed
    No down payment
No payment for 2 weeks then 100 off next 5 to build some equity in truck and a little mait escrow..
Very fair agreement I even had ooida look it over it is a true purchase they saw no flaws and u know how they are about lp programs.

    Pay
    Top 38.0
    Drop 20.00
    Layover 75.00

    Lanes
I prefer dedicated if u can get in off the bat u got it made

    Kmart (my account)
    Bestbuy
    Cummins
    Onan
    Ashley

Onan is suppsed to be the best of the litter but I choose kmart due to I was used to retail from past at Walmart private fleet
I avged about 900-1000 per week home weekly for 1.5 to 2.0
My worst week was 600 (rough estimate ) 3 days at volvo broke down

That is gross wages not net..

    Insurance is good and affordable
Bout 75.00 per wk or so for family depending on your options you elect ..

I would have went back to them in a heart beat if I had not found superior carriers where I am now and will be for a long time to come

Orientation is about 4-5 days stay at decent hotel
Breakfast, lunch provided dinner on u
Wendys across the street and a convience store
The hotel has a resturant , pool, hotub, and wifi

You will be good with them if they don't have a dedicated account get your name on the list for all of them as they go from the list in order applied or requested and not senority

Anything else u need just shout

They are stait shooters and my pay was always right they do trippack express no transflo invade you were wondering that
They have direct deposit so take a canceled check,
Your ssn card, and don't forget your cdl

Dress casual but not slummy .. They look at appearance for truck assignments and they way you look and dress is they way they assign them
I was brand new to them and got a truck with just 25,000 miles when some got trucks with 450,000 k give or take

    Appearance ......

thank you, that was quite a bit of info

they sound like a pretty good co to work for
and I will try to get on one of their dedicated accounts, I think that would be best for me

    No problem ..

I forgot to mention .. They run about 750 trucks .
About 700 volvos and 50 new prostars

    Get a volvo ..

I like the new prostar don't get me wrong but they did not order theirs correctly they have no cabinets in the bunk at all none .. Absolutely zero so if they try to give you one do everything you can to trade with one of your classmates before you accept truck

Also they are not buying anymore this was a test they were running and decided to stay with volvo so parts are a little scarse for them since they don't have many ...

Take my advise on this ....

    K24-
Did you work with Mark as your load planner/disp? I think KY is in his area, but if you were on dedicated, you may not have had contact with him. I think he is good guy, and wasn't including him in my comment on organization. With as many trucks as they have, I am sure that most days are like herding cats for them.

Thanks for the good info on them. I have never seen them run shabby equipment, that's for sure.

after 2 flights and a mad dash thru the denver airport, I have arrived in minneapolis mn for the start of orientation tomorrow morning
the shuttle to their facility leaves here at 7:10 am
I am hoping and praying this company turns out to be a good one

the travel itinerary went really smooth, I was where I was supposed to be when I was supposed to be there and everyone was expecting me and when I arrived at the hotel, the staff here provided me with a bundle of homework to go thru before tomorrow so I am gonna put away the toy and get my nose to the grindstone

ya'll have a great night and be safe out there

Good luck and keep us posted. Have some lutefisk while you're up here. It just doesn't taste the same anywhere else!
