I am new to the industry. actually in school now. This is something that never crossed my mind at all. On Monday when I get back to class I am going to talk with the instructors and try to get them to include this information in all of the future classes. If it only saves one life then it will be well worth the 5 mins. it takes to at least get it into peoples minds!
Thanks to Gears for sharing your experience! It may well have saved some others! -
Went out and got a new pipe to replace the old. This is what they sell with their new heaters. On the left is a part of the old, and on the right is the new. Stainless steel flex. $40.
The Challenger, Everett and 123456 Thank this. -
Their you go but don't forget to keep on eye on it. Things don't last forever when used or not used.
All the advice is very useful, it's only not useful when the suggestions are not applied being ignorant.
Guess they figured it was a problem using aluminum instead of ss. Get what you pay for.Gears Thanks this. -

Stainless is where it's at. Try to keep the bends gradual instead of quick 90's to minimize resistance.
Hard piping wouldn't be a bad idea. You could use the old one as a guide. Any muffler shop can fix you up with a custom fab job.Gears Thanks this. -
That was a problem with the old Espar gasoline heaters that they offered as an option on air cooled VW's.
