I received a photo radar ticket for running a red light in Tucson AZ. I am wondering if I just pay this fine will there be a record on my MVR. I understand the City of Tucson will access points on my license but I have been told that it will not appear on my MVR for the State of Arizona. I was hoping someone might have some insight. Thanks.

ANY moving violation will usually land on your MVR unless you plead it down to something silly, but running a red light is not likely to be plead down. IMO

its my understanding that a red light violation issued by a camera will not go on your MVR. Then again if I ran a red and there was video evidence of it I'd just pay it and be ashamed of myself for not having enough sense to stop for a light.

But you may want to fight this.

Violations caught on a photo are unenforceable. My wife recieved a photo red light violation in 08 and we paid it w/o giving it a second thought. Five months later we recieved the refunded ticket cost in the mail w/ an explanation.Said something like the trigger for the camera had been set at two-tenths of a second and the legal standard rquired a 0.33 second trigger requirement.

Since then she has been issued 4 more of these in the city of Philly (two of which where she was stuck in an itersection behind other cars) all of which we have not paid. the most recent ticket and (sept 2010) the only one sent to a collections agency is the only one we inquired about with the Philadelphia Parking Authority. the representitive said that if we have three or more violations our car will get booted if found but other than that there isn't anything that could be done. As of 5 minutes ago there is no mention of this on her credit report.

Most of the time photo tickets are not fine but 'administration fees' which means that they not only do not go on your MVR, it's not even a criminal charge. Some places allow the contracting company to do cival suits to get the money, but in reality ignoring them there is no problem.

Another thing is most are set up for cars, not tractors. If they don't have your picture then simply say "It wasn't me!"

Of course instead of listening to all of us truck stop lawyers, cal a lawyer in that area and ask them how it's setup.

My guess is when you go to renew your vehicle's registration, you may have to deal with those tickets then.

    Dieselbear,

You would think that you would be totally against these devices, as implementing them and similar devices could cost you your job.

Big truck overweight? no problem... Ticket in the mail via recorded DOT#.

Yeah, the states could put you guys on permanent part time status, at about 1/4 the pay. Random inspection required, the states would send you to work.

After all, cameras don't require wages, retirement plans, health care ... etc.

Sounds like a really good way states could save some coin.

Guys, go easy on the man. Don't forget, he stands up for us a lot. He might be one of the few true trucking advocates you'll ever see in Law Enforcement.

And if you truly believe a red light camera violation won't show up on your record, you're wrong. You're simply being lied to, the court wants your money- that's the purpose of the camera. If you ignore it, it WILL come back to haunt you in the future.
