Alberta oilfield driving jobs

Show me 1 camp in Alberta where you share 4 to 5 per room. I stayed at a camp in Fort Mac last January, single room and a shared bath with the guy next door. $300. a night with meals. You get what you pay for. In my case, costs were passed on to others. Just adjust your rates accordingly.

 

yeah the only time i shared a room was when i was with eveready in fort mac but that was when i started out if i had a room mate after that he was always on the alternate shift

 

I've stayed in many oil patch camps (mostly rig camps which are quite a bit smaller) and other than very rarely having to share a room if I was an itinerant worker (really, almost never as most camps have spare rooms for exactly that purpose), the only time I have "shared" a room is with the person on the opposite shift. Most camps are really no different than temporary motels. Company camps can run the gamut from "should be condemed" to luxurious. I see lots of vacumn and water truck companies supplying travel trailer-type accommodations (the better ones are heavy-duty and winterized).

 

He said "Then you'd share I think 4-5 guys to a bunk house or whatever it is your sleep in.." so I suspect they were referring to a wet or dry sleeper which is a sleeper shack separate from the main camp with (usually) 4 rooms. Wet sleepers have two pairs of rooms with a shared bathroom between each pair, dry sleepers are just bedrooms and you have to go to the main camp building to use the bathroom. Not real common.

I am the owner. We haul fluid mostly to drilling rigs in west central Alberta. I'm looking for owner ops and a couple good drivers.

 

If you wanna make the big bucks in the patch go to a frac company and make 100-150k/year, But keep in mind when you work in the patch they have a HOS oil field exemption so they can work you 14 hrs a day , and alot of cases you will work alot more.

And when you start in the patch your gonna be treated like a green horn on Deadliest catch. thats if you choose frac or a Rig crew.

If you can handle being treated like a worm until you become useful , you will reap the rewards of great pay and long hours .

PS stay away from vac trucks Its the worst job for trucking in the patch IE. confined spaces with h2s or (iron sulfide ,nice stuff, it reacts with oxygen and spontaneously com busts if it becomes dry. believe me its nice to think about it when your cramped in a tight inlet separator 30 feet up know your ##### could be toast) and then there is the fun part of a drilling rig wanting its mud tanks cleaned out.

 

It's not all bad! If your scared, stay home. There are a lot of good paying rewarding jobs in the oil field. It's the best money you will ever make with a class one license. But you have to be willing to put out. If your biggest concern is where will I be sleeping or who will I share a bunk with or is the food any good, then this life is probably not for you. The Alberta and BC oil patch is some of the most challenging conditions to work in anywhere in the world. This is where the new innovations are born. This is the place that separates the men from the boys. The work is here, the money is here. If you want it come and get it. If you want some one to hold your hand and make it all nice for you, stay home.
We need a lot of good people who want to succeed. Some come to work. If you are up to it.

 

The work sure is interesting that's for sure. In my limited time being up here I've had my share of experiences I would never had as a highway driver. There's lots of money to be made though if you want to work hard. Almost everyday I'm going like crazy.

 

Well, Air Brakes are done, start driving lessons in a week. Found an H2S course down here so that's good. It's all coming together, slowly but surely
