the differences are very few, TMC is Pete's, we're Freightliners. Both companies trucks are slow and gutless,(we're a couple miles
per hour faster though) The Peterbuilts are more about appearance, the Cascadia's we have are really geared toward driver comfort.( as long as all the options are still functional, that is. ) Also, their trucks are 13 speeds, Mavericks are all Smartshift automatics.

your more likely to be treated like a human being at Maverick, I've heard about some crazy stuff from TMC drivers.

Ok Sarge, here are a few legitimate questions:

    1) What is the minumum time Maverick requires a new employee to train with a trainer?

    2) What is the minimum time required for flatbed training and their glass training?

    3) Does Maverick have heavy traffic through Ohio, where I live?

Im interested in their glass division, since it pays higher per mile.

How do they assign violation points? Are you talking about clerical errors or do they audit your log from the trucks qualcom or gps?

I am sorry to be butting in here since I am not a Driver Trainer with Maverick, just giving my husband's experience with training with Maverick from what I have observed (by knowing when he started each part of the process) and what he has told me.

My husband is just about to complete his flatbed training so, even though I am not sure if he was trained for the minimum amount of time, I have it fresh in my mind what the time frames were for all of his training stuff.

    1) He will be completing his training with a trainer this week (ending on October 6, 2011 with his evaluation tests scheduled for October 7, 2011) which will be a total of 6 weeks with a trainer (he started training with his trainer on August 29, 2011)

    2) My husband's training time for flatbed training - included in his time with a trainer so see the answer for 1)

    3) We live in Little Rock, AR so I have no idea about the traffic Maverick has through Ohio.

    Sarge —

Spoke with Courtney last Thurs. (9/28/11), she said to say hi to you. I told her that we had been trading posts here and she is going to use you as my referral. Hopefullly, if I get hired on, they'll toss a few extra $$ your way for that. All my paperwork has finally been returned and I should should know something about my app this week!

    Hey all -
just checked my application status at the Maverick Recruiting Portal …

Approval Status: Approved 10/3/2011 2:13:11 PM

I haven't heard from my recruiter yet, but I figured it might be posted online before she had a chance to get to me and I was right!

… I just got my call from Courtney (my recruiter) and her three available spots for next Mon. are full, so barring anyone dropping or hiring on elsewhere, I will be in Little Rock on Oct. 17, 2011 learning the 'Maverick way'! :biggrin_255:

    1) The minimum amount of time with a trainer is 21 days. The maximum time you will be told is "as long as it takes" So plan on a month an you won't be disappointed. You will be making $450 a week during this time so keep that in mind also. Paid training is a good deal in my book.

    2) All new drivers will go through one week of orientation training and one week of securement training in Little Rock. Glass haulers will then go to Laurinburg, NC for an additional week of Glass training. After your on the road training you will go back to Little Rock for a final evaluation. Then you will be assigned a truck and most likely sent home for the rest of the week. So from start to finish you will be away from home 6 - 7 weeks. Recruiting won't exactly tell you that but that's how it works. Recruiting will not lie to you but they are salesmen and I'll leave it at that.

    3) Ohio is a great place for Flat Bedders. As for Glass I'm not sure if Ohio is in the hiring area. You will have to go to the Maverick web site to find out.

    I hope this helps.

Sarge. I've enjoyed reading your posts...so I called Maverick. I'm just a hair outside of your hiring area...the recruiter didn't think that would be a problem...I'll have my CDL A in a few weeks from Sage...but,....but..I've been unemployed for about 18 months...I used to be in advertising ...but I guess I'm too old for that anymore. The recruiter said that they couldn't consider me because I've been unemployed too long. If I graduate with good grades...a good CDL. What difference should it make if I've been caught in a lousy economy? Can you help?

Markus, don't tell recruiters you've been unemployed, tell them you have been self employed ' perhaps working as a consultant. All they will ask then is a notarized letter from someone with a different last name than yours to sign it stating you are self employed. :biggrin_25525: Worked for me!

I feel your pain ' I was in the publishing business for 20 years. And advertising revenue has dropped between 40-45% in the last three years. :biggrin_2552:
