    Eastern CO, south of Kersey.

    The pay is OK, $900 a week if you meet your quota of 3 lds a day. No matter how many hours it takes. Thats the killer, when you figure up the hours that you work it comes out to about $12 an hr.
    The days are 12 to 14 hrs long and then you take 10 off and do it again. The 10 off includes driving time getting to and from work.
    Some days I bring the truck home.

    I'm working on a car hauling gig that easily could pay 3 times as much (to the driver). It would be as an O/O position. I'll tell ya boys and girls, once you get O/O in your blood being a company slave just doesn't satisfy. :biggrin_25513: :biggrin_25513: :biggrin_25513:
    If I'm gonna be working this hard all the time, I'm going to be owning my own business.

    The bad thing with the oil hauling is that Taylor is just the company that gets the contracts and provides the equipment. Its up to lease operators to get the oil hauled and maintain the trucks. Its a good ole boy system and very hard for some one to step up to lease operating their own rig. At a minimum you have to have a yr with them, and then before you can have your own rig (and be paid more money) the lease op you are working for has to sign off on you. If he doesn't like you or does not want the competition, you are screwed. No other way for advancement. Screw that.

    Ahh, Eastern CO. It looks like Wyoming, but then again, a lot of those places in the West look alike.

    I could never become an O/O, as I could never go back to company driving once I became an O/O. If I became an O/O and things went south, I'd have to quit driving.

    You sound like another spoiled brat owner/op just like the rest of us.lol I know the feeling and agree completely. I drove as a company driver for exactly 1 year and could never,ever,ever,never,ever do it again. Think I made my feelings clear???lol

    That is hard work for the pay. What a shame when it could really pay money if owner operators could work directly for the oil company rather than sub contract. Not for me, as it is not necessary to work so hard for good money.

    I would never put down anyone who worked hard though as it has its merits and I have been there. Use to love it.

    That is exactly why I walked away. I spent my time as a company slave and then had a great time as an owner operator until Landstar signed their contract with Associated Brokers. That put the skids on me and I was not about to just jump from company to company. It would have been okay if I had support at home to run a business on my own, but it is just too much to chase freight and drive at the same time, then have to keep up with all the paper work to insure payment as well as all the necessary licensing, insurance , etc.

    It can be done, but too much work for a single person and no support.

    Yeah, looks like a real nice ride. Nice trailer also. Lots of money. Schedules can be real tight running to meet those payments and keep up with pick up and deliveries. Don't know enough about the potential, but I know people who do it.

    Hey Bronkrider, when you coming back through Spokane? I may be in the mountains soon if all works out. Mining just might take off. I have been neck deep in the paper work and telephone calls lately. Keeping my fingers crossed.
