the stuff works, it's just that they dont clearly explain it to you how to use it in orientation.. i was told that they will idle below and over a specific tempature, how to get it to actually do it was the challenge, but i figured it out.. 'ell, once i was parked next to a Knight driver at the Iowa80, and his truck kept cutting off and back on.. i didn't know what he had going on.. walking from the shower i saw him sittin in the driver seat so i went up and talked to him, and i asked him about the idle and he said his truck wouldn't act right, so i explain to him what to do and he idle right next to me for a good six hours.

ok, dont know how to do it in a Pete, never driven one.. but for the Volvo's, just wait until your road relay starts the 5min count down, when it's within 15-30sec of shutting down, "Idle Shutdown" will show on the information screen on the dash. There's about 10sec left before the truck shuts down, when "Idle Shutdown" shows on the information screen on the dash, either put your foot on the brake, the clutch, or pull down on the hand valve/trolly brake. What you're trying to do is activate the relay that disengages the cruise control. once that relay activates the screen will show "Idle Shutdown Cancelled". It only works when you're within the time, and tempature requirements.. any other time and all you do is reset the timer and after 5min goes by it'll still shut down.

for the pro stars it's a little different and still the same.. My prostar doesn't have the road relay so i don't see a timer count down, i have to wait until i see the "Idle Shutdown" lamp light up on the dash, and then i either hit the brake, clutch, or pull the hand brake down and it goes out, and as long as i'm within the tempature requirements (no time requirement because the "Idle Shutdown" light will only come on when it's within 15sec of shutting off) it'll idle all day.

But if you release the parking brakes, you'll have to restart the whole process again..

    Big Don Thanks this.

Well what terminal your out of and the management in that terminal makes a huge difference.

Some terminals are worst than others.

Only if they let you run regional. I asked several times for that and it never happend. You'll just end up in another terminals area and be black-listed because your terminal screwed one of their drivers. Knights 28 competing companies and the driver loses everytime. I've never seen anything like it.

Was that kind of response necessary? I mean, really? All he was asking was which terminal the driver worked out of, and you have to lambaste him what THAT kind of remark?

You have every right to put down Knight as a company. And I respect you voicing your opinion about it. But to literally insult a driver of said company is just assinine. Makes no sense to me.

Any large carrier has have and have nots. I could only stand working at May trucking for around 6mos and thought they sucked, but I am sure there are drivers there that think they are the best in the west. And that seems to piss off some that did not do so well at knight.

The key to complaining about Knight is to make it terminal specific because I know for a fact that some terminals at knight are good to work out of and some are not because of their single source dping. And many of there drivers up here in the NW seem to be doing alright. In fact I see Knight trucks and talk to knight drivers all the time up here in the NW and the most complaints I have heard are from drivers out of Las Vegas. Defiantly a terminal I would avoid signing on out of.
