Wanted to pose a question to you experienced owner operators out there. I have searched and asked around on load boards and would love to get some feedback on what your favorite load board is and why.

I have used Direct Freight exclusively for six months, just because it was recommended. I have wondered if using more than one load board is beneficial or just a waste of money.

I am looking for the best bang for the buck and would appreciate any feed back from your experience.

I use Members Edge (thru OOIDA but is Truckers Edge with link available at top of this site with free month) and Internet Truck Stop. ITS can get expensive but both have a good volume of loads and for the most part less than 50% duplication. I have used 123loadboard and was not impressed. While ME or ITS may have 70 loads posted, 123 would have 10.

I have also started using the load alert system with Landstar. What I like about it is that it gives you the rate when you get the email.

Also will warn you with ITS, you will get calls trying to upsell you. If you are not carefull you could end-up with a $100/month subscription with them.

ITS works well. ITS never calls us to upsell. They put out webinar's and such but they don't call us.

We had Transcore and it is bloated with crap.

We used to use getloaded but then everyone and their momma can post loads as well. ITS, imho better at checkinng who gets to post loads. Their industry and credit alerts are alone worth the price.

Yes it is. You need to be an approved carrier to get the alerts with rates and to do searches with rates. I love getting the alerts with rates. When I was driving and looking for loads I could just click on the phone number in the email on my phone and it would dial for me. On better paying loads if I waited 10 mins after the alert it would be gone.

Funny. I found that they're both about equal with a fair amount of overlap. I'd say ITS has more different brokers listing loads, less reefer freight, and more reefer/van loads listed that are actually van-only. About the only feature ITS has that is funny sometimes, annoying others, is their Hot Prospects. Brokers can pay extra to see a list of carriers that are just searching a market and they'll call you up as if you posted your truck already. Those calls out of the blue were kind of mystifying until I found out about that feature.

I too have not gotten any hard sell from ITS. Maybe enough people complained and they backed off. I got only one call from them within a week of signing up. At that moment I didn't have time for a sales call, got a number and promised to call back. I never did, nor have they tried again. Transcore has called about once a quarter to ask if their service has been ok, but have never pushed any upgrades. Strictly a QC call.
