They say it helps to be lucky. Sometimes it helps to be sneaky! :biggrin_25525: Besides, I hate advertising!

Although I had been self-employed, there's no reason for Markus to be so forthright. Ad execs tend to do a lot of consulting work.

    Sarge —

It was great meeting you yesterday. I wish that I had some more time to chat with you, but duty called — off to the barn! My class tests out of the barn tomorrow (10/26/11). :biggrin_2559: Our class started with 32, now there are 11 of us — the few, the proud!

sorry so long in response or if any have answered for me tyvm.

it's one of the most frequently asked ?s by those interested in working at Maverick. Ladies and Gentlemen im not trying to sound like a sarcastic smart arse with what i type next but read it word for word:

maverick TRIES to get its drivers home every weekend.

Getting home is not only based on where you live, but it does play a part. Another factor, a very important one, is and again brutally honest here,
is there freight available to get you home or through the house for the weekend near where you deliver towards the end of the week?
A driver could live in one of the houses 2 blocks north of our madison terminal and not get home every weekend.

there is never any 100% chance of getting home on the weekend. For instance: you may be loaded, on your way home with a load to deliver the following week as were myself and my current student when we came upon a 1 mile long backup that could be seen from a mile away, turn on your emergency flashers to warn motorists behind you that you were slowing to merge into the only open lane once again that you can see for over a mile away, and still have your flashers on when another truck whom obviously was occupied by whatever almost jacknifes his trailer into your rear doing 65 miles per hour (at least that's what he told the trooper) and clips the back passenger side of your trailer with the back driver's side of your's. The sound it created was similar to a tire blowing out and what i saw in the mirror and thought were tire parts were actually his drivers side clearance lights flying through the air. he told the trooper he didn't know he hit us. ?!?!?!?! after he refused to stop even though all the stopped traffic was waving their arms out the window at him to do so to pull over as he drove all the way up to thru, and beyond, the lane closure to run away and had to be boxed in by two state troopers to pull him into the scalehouse. . .

sorry for the rant but back to your original question, you live in a good area for Maverick to try to get you home

right back at you sir and good luck. sorry if i seemed a bit rushed as i was trying to (and the maverick recruiters who read this page will love this next part) efficiently manage my time available and get my student's paperwork finished that previously wasn't required (gotta love computerizing everything)

What do i think makes maverick a better choice than TMC?

note: i have never worked for TMC so the following is based on observations and what any courtroom would call heresay but i call talking with other drivers that work for or have worked for TMC:

Maverick has a two week orientation program, 1 week classroom, 1 week hands on training which after completed by one who has no otr experience is followed by a required 21 day minimum ride along/work with/ get evaluated by a driver trainer. . . grrrrrrrrrrrrr. . .instructor such as myself followed by a written/hands on open book evaluation out test and driving simulator test. while in the trainer truck, IT IS AGAINST MAVERICK'S POLICY TO BE RUN AS A TEAM. 2 of my students came over from TMC and both said they drove all night while the instructor slept IN OTHER WORDS. . .the truck was run as a team. How can i or any instructor for that matter, honestly sign his name to a piece of paper evaluating a students performance and giving their opinion of said performance if they were sleeping while the student was driving??? end specific detail 1.

I'm not one to sit in my truck while waiting to be loaded or unloaded. so i talk with other Maverick drivers and other company's drivers, or help them fold tarps while waiting to load or unload or get another load.

in doing so i've talked with many drivers with many other companies, heard good opinions and bad opinions from all of them maverick and other company's drivers and have heard the least amount of complaints from other maverick drivers end specific detail 2

re hometime ?, Maverick tries to get it's drivers home every weekend. TRIES keyword
nothing is certain other than death

based on the severity of the offense. . .hypothetical situation. . . .. . While on elogs i start my day at 6am with a pretrip inspection, i can no longer legally drive (i dont, wont, totally refuse to split sleeper berth) after 8pm. i drive 11 hours and one minute to get home. . . 25 points. i drive 14 hours and one minute to get home. . .25 points. so theorhetically, if you are close to your 70 hours and in lets say houston texas with 8 hrs to drive on your 70 hours and i drive all the way to louisville ky and drive over my 11,14 and 70 in one day.....i would win 75 points!!!

or since maverick doesn't recognize "using a company vehicle for personal conveyance" one may accumulate enough violation points in one day to warrant a personal phone call from the #2 guy in the safety department, B.G. informing him of such and be ORDERED to find the nearest safe place to park and do so.

but i dont think that would ever happen. :biggrin_25525:

thank you maam. woulda clicked the thank you button but for some reason this computer gives me 25 violation points and kicks me out of the program for doing so so i had to type it out with my usual as long as the baby's sleeping long story short explanation. thank you.

and since you are married to a new driver with maverick, i apologize if your husband is one of the new drivers who was assigned to a driver trainer who does not live near you that gets your hubby home when the trainer gets home. Maverick tries to do so but it doesn't always happen.
